After recently losing my “little” yet grown a$$ of a man (34 years old) brother in a motorcycle accident, the only thing that has balanced the unimaginable quick and unexpected death of my brother Michael has been the undeniable visits from him. I have been shown that once we pass, we can help influence the past, to the present, and future. Pray for all passed and present. We are one and we create the future. I’m tired, it’s late, and I’m not smart enough to use my words to explain, but They live and love on. Our love (our light) is their light. Light is existence. Love is all there is. Love is light. Shine your light, hold on to their love, and miracles will continue to happen. Look for the signs. Be at peace with their passing, and stay with an open heart for them to come back through you and through their transition back and forth and so it peacefully is, for our past and future selves

@@htoowin369 sorry I am just seeing this. I didn’t have notifications on.. I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss. I hope you have been coping as well as possible and have found beautiful memories to hold on to when you’re having a tough time? Please forgive me but It’s tough to share on public forum or to even explain in words. It’s.. different things but when it happens you’ll know. Set aside time when you’re alone to Talk to them tell them how proud you are of them or whatever you want to say. close your eyes open your heart, let yourself cry if you want to, or don’t. Don’t judge your grieving process. It could even just be an overwhelming feeling of love that may surround you or just something you’ll see and it will be so clear to you it’s them that you’ll know. @@htoowin369 when my grandma died.. I had not been with her physically for almost ten years and she kept asking to come see her.. I was too late. I grieved deeply because I didn't imagine she was about passing and she was my Darling. I remember asking her to forgive me for being too late and praying to see her as that was the only thing that might comfort me. And then one of the days.. I slept and had a dream.. She was looking Soo beautiful having afternoon tea in a nice room with my mom and an aunt. My grandma was not a tea drinking person. But it was her looking younger, more beautiful and really glowing and I woke up with a knowing that she was in a better place so I stopped grieving. After two years I still miss her, deeply! but I never grieve again.. I am so sure she is very blissful where she is. Maybe you could ask to see them.. I wish you comfort

I’ve had a few experiences that have shown me about a continuum after life and rather than restrict the living experience, it makes me live life to the fullest. “To consider that after the death of the body the spirit perishes is like imagining that a bird in a cage will be destroyed if the cage is broken, though the bird has nothing to fear from the destruction of the cage. Our body is like the cage, and the spirit is like the bird. We see that without the cage this bird flies in the world of sleep; therefore, if the cage becomes broken, the bird will continue and exist. Its feelings will be even more powerful, its perceptions greater, and its happiness increased.” ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

There have been many accounts of NDE's (near death experiences) and all have detailed the eternal nature of consciousness as opposed to the death of the physical body. Unfortunately medical professionals find it difficult to separate the death of the physical body from that of the eternal nature of our spirit. There are hundreds of accounts relating to NDE$'s and the message loud and clear is that we are more than our physical body. Much more.

Why does your personality change when you're drunk, or under the influence of drugs? How come brain injuries cause drastic and permanent change in a person's behavior, beliefs, attitudes? Surely, the analogy with the bird in the cage is not a proper one. Our mind is the product of our brain. When the brain dies, and it will die from lack of oxygen and energy, it is reasonable to conclude that the mind is gone as well.

@@electricmanist What is the point of all this then? Why do we bother with paying our bills, and wearing clothes and washing our decaying bodies if eternal bliss awaits us? And interesting how when people die, they don't come back, they are never seen again, they don't speak. It's as if they don't exist anymore. Odd thing.

@@SelfReflective Corporeal life is a spiritual experience from which we learn such concepts as love/forgiveness/ compassion etc. Of course while in the life (body) we more or less have to comply with the rules/mores of our particular society. You already realize that this life is transitory but that in no way negates the value(s) of its experiences. You of course have the opportunity to make use of these experiences as you will. As you will ! One might say the opportunity to build upon our growing knowledge/understanding of ourselves, fellow humans-- even the experience of life itself. How you use this (temporary) experience is your choice-- and there are numerous examples of those who make good/indifferent/bad choices etc. Just appreciating that life is an opportunity to grow (spiritually) is a step in the right direction is it not ? Reflection is maybe a step in the direction towards understanding.-- that maybe life is something like a school of experiences. It might be useful if you checked out some of the many NDE (Near Death Experiences) on You Tube Be careful though if writing off life as having no meaning- remember you and your meaning are part of this life. A meaningless life = a meaningless you .

@@SelfReflective A better question is why does the mind continue to work when the brain is not functioning ? Patients in cardiac arrest (when their brains are down with no blood flow) can observe and remember actual real time events that occurred around their comatose bodies. Also how can elderly patients suffering from severe dementia, sometimes with their brains all eaten away by cancer, wake up and become perfectly lucid just before death and recognise their relatives again and then die ? If the brain is a transmitter rather than a producer of consciousness, rather like a TV set, then if you damage the brain or the TV set then the signal might be altered or appear to disappear from the screen, but in actual fact it's still there.

A quote that I’m pretty sure I came up with (with the help of all life) that I think is worth sharing is that “we are carried into the future by the history we create”. Creation is inherently more powerful than destruction. That’s why we all exist. So whatever it is that we are which pops out of the mysterious void has a tendency for being over not being. We are saved by our own hopes and dreams and cursed by our own fears and nightmares. Much love everyone ❤️

Sorry Doc, I enjoyed you're talk and I I agreed with some things you said but disagreed with others. My grandfather didn't communicate with me in a "letter" I assumed you were being funny : ) but he came to me in spirit to say good bye when he passed. I didn't know he passed but I did know he was ill. My family called me about 5 AM in the morning they said he passed at 2:37 AM the exact time he visited me. I had looked at the clock. My grandfather passed in Illinois and I was living in New Jersey at the time. He didn't look 90, which was the age he passed at, he looked like he did in his wedding pictures. He was in his 20s when he married my grandmother. When I asked a very spiritual lady name Sallie Mae who was 108 years old why he looked like that because that didn't make sense to me she said it's because we go back to young adulthood in the eternal life. I asked her what happens to children when they pass and she said they will be young adults in the eternal life. When my sister was killed in a car accident that wasn't her fault, she was side swiped, she was killed along with two nephews ages 10 and 8 months, both boys. When the two boys visited their mom they were young adults. The accident happened in 2003 and my grandfather passed in 1994. There is an after life and it doesn't diminish this present life of ours at all. It should enhance it and make us love more and do more for others and enjoy our lives to the fullest without the fear of death which I think causes great harm in our existence in this mortal life. Be blessed

I experienced something similar. I had a friend who committed suicide many years ago. Two or so weeks prior to his death he called me saying he wanted to kill himself. I talked him out it and told him to hang in there. Before we stopped talking on the phone he was expressing how thankful he was toward me. It felt good to be able to help him in that moment but at the time I wasn’t sure he was serious. About a week or so after our phone call I had a dream of him. Didn’t think much of it until I went to work the next day and some of my work colleagues were in shock. They told me the news about his death. His death was a shock but how can I dream of him the night he died. I don’t believe it was a coincidence. Also some weeks after that I had another dream of him I was sitting at a table chatting to him. He was saying he two brothers that died. He has two sisters.

Also my mother passed away in September 2019. I had a dream of her. Only once sadly. She was younger and very mobile. Before her death she was struggling to walk. She chatted to me in my dream. I couldn’t make out what she was saying but she was happy. When I woke it I felt happy.. I can’t say that the happiness lasted. Then grief planted it self in for the long haul.

NDE's are phenomena that have been well documented for thousands of years. Plato had one. As a retired health care professional, I have talked to many people in hospital who related their experiences to me. It is very hard to prove; yet, it's very hard to dismiss. It comes down to you alone in what you believe. Death is personel. We are mortal. No one survives death. If you happen to believe in the idea that our spirits leave our vesicle and are called home, good for you. If you believe we blink out into oblivion at death, there is no harm in that. Either way death is not to be feared. It's the process of dying that I fear most.

Great message, except please research more thoroughly near death experiences. My daughter died two years ago and we have had two clear tangible experiences with her. These experiences are so concrete that I think it would be a leap of faith to dismiss them. There is so much on KZbin about NDE’s- please look into it before making such public absolute judgements. You have great influence, please research thoroughly before making declarations that can affect hope. Life is a mystery...science is just beginning to scratch the surface. Please don’t dismiss just because you don’t have the tools or understanding. A true scientist seeks truth - with a open mind. Your kindness and the beauty of your soul shines - I hope u seek the existence of God and afterlife with true openness. My faith is the greatest joy of my life. I live with joy despite the grief of my daughter’s death. I work hard to serve despite thinking with wonder about the afterlife. My life is not reduced. These contemplations make my life richer. May God bless you and the kind work you do.

MaryAnn C. Jones ....Mary, The doctor, if you go and listen to him again, did not totally dismiss an afterlife. In fact he noted a female patient of his who had an NDE and was resuscitated obviously, and therefore able to tell him about it. With that said, he then stated that we don't know all the answers on death and that it is still mysterious. However, what his main point was, was that for sure THIS is the only biological life we will have as THIS person we are now, with THIS name, THESE friends and family, THESE genetics, THESE specific experiences, in THIS exact time on earth. So he is advising us to be wary of that and because of it....live THIS life to its fullest....every day, because one day, THIS specific life as the person we are NOW....will end. Even if there is reincarnation, it will not be you in this same time. It will be at a later time and place there and you will have totally different experiences and you will never live as MaryAnn C. Jones with her goals, successes, failures, heartbreaks, friends and family and dreams.....again.

@@vhawk1951kl Your response rather reminds me of those living many years ago whose response to the sight of those sailing beyond the horizon, was that they had indeed fallen off the edge of the world ! Levity aside, you are asking me to "prove" (to your satisfaction of course) that bodily death is anything more than a cessation of bodily/physical consciousness. It would seem that you are 'confined' (mentally of course). to a 3 dimensional concept of reality and that any other 'dimension' or sphere of consciousness is only imaginative. Well, that may well be according to your present level of awareness, but of course that paradigm may equally well apply to your current knowledge of say nuclear physics or quantum theory. We all construct a 'picture' of reality according to our state of intelligence or more accurately, awareness-- hence for example the widely differing concepts pertaining to religions for example. (or even politics Ha!) But trying to present a 3 dimensional 'unified theory' to fit all criteria is (as it seems you need) --(at the present time anyway) is rather like trying to construct the dynamics of quantum physics understandable to all 4 year olds. I don't of course use this example in a disparaging sense, (for example could you explain the subtleties of vision to a blind person ?) , but if someone is firmly (mentally) attached to a certain concept of all that is (which some (you) might define/construe as the only 'reality') what can you do to enlarge their awareness of other realities, or more putting it more succinctly, the various stages of conscious awareness? Finally you ask "if death if not the cessation of awareness, what is it "? Well a simple example might be for you to imagine actually traveling from one from reality (for example, country) to another and then trying to explain the new dynamics of that situation to someone who hasn't experienced that transition. So you can refuse (or are unable) to accept the experiences of others. or remain firmly fixed in your own paradigm of all that is. (Whatever that may be !)

It is remarkably simple: either death means*no_after*or it simply is*not* death - simple as that. To suggest that death is or means anything*other* than*no*after*is either misleading or deliberate lying. It may be that as a result of certain experiences something is formed in a man (human being) that does not die when the body is destroyed, but only much later, but there is no way of determining whether or not that is the case - short of the rather obvious way of testing the proposition. It is simply dreaming to believe, or accept without question, without evidence.

You only get one opportunity to be known as the person you're now. Tomorrow? God only knows the answer. Meanwhile, make sure to justify your existence at a point where you are able to at least cope with the unavoidable fate and you will surely be happy for the rest of your walk trough this plane. Possibilities are infinite, life isn't. So, be pragmatic and live by the limits of what you know as reality instead of sacrificing your happiness in exchange of trying to get an answer about what you don't know, which in a universe as complex as ours made of infinite hypothetical probabilites, is rather impossible due to our physical and psychical limitations.

Life belongs to life. Life was HORRIBLY DIFFICULT in previous generations, especiilly outside the Western world. Do you see a Russian smiling often ?? In the past, it took great preparation for Winter & great faith to plant in the Spring. Like the Chinese, we should (could) celebrate our ancestors & carrying their lessons & history in our hearts. Parenthood is often an act of sacrifice & dedication, especially when caring for the very young. We should be thankful to them & our lineage. It is up to the culture & religion to invest in an afterlife. In this life, we all can at least appreciate its mystery.

When you’re dead you’re dead. I loved this talk because of the real humanity and compassion expressed in every word by the speaker. Death is something we all have to face, both our own mortality and the loss of loved ones around us. Modern medicine means that fewer people experience suffering at the time of death allowing most of us to die with great dignity. Once we are gone it’s only difficult for those left behind who struggle in coming to terms with their loss. For those that have died it will feel like before we were born.

If there are" many ways to define death" then pick one or set out what *you* seek to convey when you use the word, or is that to difficult for those that hedge their bets. If death is not the complete cessation of all experience, what is it? Its has to be that or something else does it not for what other possible meanings will the word bear? Plainly the weak and timid cannot bear the idea that death is final so they wriggle about for some convincing lie to tell themselves which is more than pathetic is it not? Death can only possibly mean *No_After*- *Or* it is not death, it's make your mind up time.. If you know that you are dead you are not dead and if you don't know you are dead no worries.

@@vhawk1951kl I think many people don’t like to think that deceased loved ones are gone forever. Others fear and fail to accept their own mortality. Some people are indoctrinated into religions that might promise an afterlife or less commonly reincarnation. The latter group seldom question what they were told or taught to believe. I questioned everything which seems to be a very fundamental part of who I am.

People often explain death to be " like before you were born" - That is not death though. We were not dead before we were born. We were just not born yet. To die, you have to be alive first. Death is the end of life. Death is not pre life. This guy is just another cliche non believer who expects God to send him a nice video of his loved ones who have passed away. @@AbcdAbcd-ol5hn Faith doesn't make anyone better? try living out your life without faith. No faith in your friends and family, no faith that you will wake up in the morning and be okay. We have faith all the time and we live it out every day. We act without knowing the odds mathematically of whether something will or will not happen. I seek truth and I have all my life. I have rebelled against Christianity and all other religions and I have also returned. Pontius pilot famously asked Jesus "What is truth?" He replied " I am the way, the truth and the life. No-one will come to the Father but through me." God has provided the answer for everyone already. We can know who Jesus was because he was actually here on Earth and many witnessed him being alive and well after he was publicly killed. However even they cannot have 100% certainty and there is still an element of trust. Even if Jesus really rose from the dead. Anyway. Jesus disciples were killed proclaiming his name when they were to get nothing out of it. People don't die for something they know to be a lie. It is obvious to anyone with an open heart what happened that day. If Jesus actually rose from the dead it would mean a massive deal to literally every human being on Earth. Anyway, faith is not silly. Nor does it mean trusting in something without evidence. We are told in the Bible NOT to have faith in things without evidence. The evidence of Christianity is historical and it is recorded in the four gospels. In my opinion, the historical support for the new testament is so remarkable that no other ancient event would come close to having as much accurate information as we have in the gospels. And no, I am not some religious looney. I am just a guy who believes in a man who was really here 2000 years ago. You can look at what he did and said for yourself, too. All the best.
