What a difference a day makes! From Tuesdays efforts landing a few pike to the following day and struggling to find a fish 🥴

Said it before but your fish care is top draw! Even the mere fact you openly discuss deep hooking, resting etc etc is worth praise. Top man.

Totally agree Stuart, if you notice Steve won't even throw a small chub or perch back , releases them in and extra large SG net . I hope people learn from you Steve. Only last weekend I was walking down the canal with my management ( the wife ) and a bloke caught a pike as I was passing , obviously I stopped and looked , he landed it with his net but placed the fish down on the concrete tow path to unhook .😡Gets me so mad of course I had to educated him . He didn't have an unhooking mat . 2 foot to his left there was a soft grass verge , I just don't get some people. Keep up the good work Steve , 👏

Thank you very much Stuart, greatly appreciated. Everyone gets a tough unhooking at some point. If it helps those that can show or talk about it should I think 👍

@@james.chester.3568 thanks James, I’ve seen a recent surge in young anglers out after predators with no net or mat. Education is the way to do it. There after is just poor angling. Fair play to you for pointing out good practice 👍

@@BlackCountryPiker I watch it on catch up. I saw the one at Loch Ness, it was brilliant and had me in stitches. Those two are hilarious 😂

Aren’t they just! Gets my goat when people comment “they never catch” it’s not about the catch at all is it?!

@@BlackCountryPiker WHAT they go Fishing!!!!!!!!! 😳 I will have to look out for that 😂😉 No it's not Steve, it's all about the off the cuff banter & ad-libbing which is the best I've ever seen 👍

Steve - lovely pike - still waiting for one! Tough on the River Lea at the minute - the hot weather we've had has blown the weed out of all proportion which makes lure fishing difficult - managed some Perch to 1lb+, but that's about it. As has been said here - looking forward to winter....

Yes matey, can’t wait for cooler temperatures and more water in the winter

Get on it! Nice fishies. Still not really given the Perch rod and small stuff a real go on river, however the pike Sunday was on that setup, wasn't many pegs on the stretch we fished...

I’ll be trying more dead baiting this season. I keep promising myself to step away from pure lure fishing

Hi mate I have a 20g to 60g lure rod and I'm wondering what lure I could use to target perch, or do I need a lighter set up.
@BlackCountryPiker2 жыл бұрын
I’d probably go much lighter matey, 5-10g and that’s heavy

Nice fish Steve, no wonder it had a mark near its tail, the way it was thrashing around. What gear are you using ie. Rod casting weight, line etc.?
@BlackCountryPiker2 жыл бұрын
I would imagine the old wound to be a spawning injury or a bigger fish hitting it a good while ago. At the moment I’m still using my Abu Venerate 10-45g rod. Diawa Ninja 3000 spinning reel with 60lb power pro braid. This season I will be lowering the braid to 50 or 45lb. This will be strong enough for the pike and give me better casting capabilities too
