A Tough Situation | Pinkbike Racing

Coming into the season injured was always going to mean Jackson's last year before the elite category was going to be tough. Harsh conditions, injuries, and crashes are all part of mountain biking but can Jackson show what he can do before the end of the season? Or is he going to run out of time before he gets up to speed?

In one of the previous videos, he and his dad kept going on with this sort of mantra, "you're bulletproof", and he so obviously is not. Yes, he's super talented, yes he's tough as nails but, in the end, he's as breakable as any of us. To watch him call it off, mid-race and then make the statement that his wrist was more important than this race...while heartbreaking, shows how much he has grown as a racer just within this series. Good luck dude. I'll be cheering for you.

I don't think anyone needs to give Jackson anymore advice with mindset. To see a young man conquer all the troubles he went through and persevere, is truly admirable. He's grown so much over this series. As a fellow Aussie, and a Dad getting back into mtb after 20 years being away with my 8 year old daughter in tow, he's certainly an inspiration for myself and others, and I cannot wait to see his journey. He's better for it. Learning skills like this is great. Regardless of what he does outside of riding. And he gets to learn from SLEEPER CO!! Beats the shit out of filming Tik Toks and using that robot girl voice to narrate it... Some of us would kill to work with Max (looks around)... That DnB track on the quali run tho!! Smart lad grabbing the bars and realizing it's not gonna work after the tumble. That's critical for consistency. Know when to call it. His dad is so rad lol. Needed more dad bits. Kid's tough AS.

You guys are just doing such an awesome job with these! I also love that you are not just taking one weekend and make a video out of this, but take the longer stories and tell those. Those also bring a much completer image of it all. To also bring in Reece was absolute the right chocice, so much good insight from him. One thing all those which are on the team now will also take with them is the feeling of being natural infront of the camera. I guess no matter where it takes them in terms of riding, this can also make them much more appealing for brands out of racing and therefor open doors which might have be shut otherwise.

Man...I lived this on a smaller scale. Trying to get a full ride on the NORBA circuit in it's heyday. Came in season fit w/ all the right equipment, no excuses & all the motivation. Broke my wrist as the series started & raced 3 weeks back to back to back on a broken scaphoid just grunting every hit. You feel like your ONLY chance is this year, this race, this season. Worry that everyone else is going to leave you behind while you fail over & over. But Reece is 100% right. It's the long game. Opportunities pop up as others fall off, lose interest or take their spot for granted. Stay committed, grind & take note every time someone else quits....you continue to work & success comes.

I get you are trying to compete but isnt it just better to wait for a full recovery ? He crashed 3/3 times, possibly because his recovering wrist / shoulder / body couldnt handle the stress. That couldve ended so much worse.

That’s really easy to say, but when your in that position where you don’t know if you’ll have any team for next year, you don’t know if you’ll have the support, that kind of opportunity to race again, it’s feels like a lot more than just sitting out of 3 races.

PB Racing is a VERY unique opportunity. There's no guarantee it exists next year, or he will be chosen next year, etc. if he chooses to sit this entire thing out. If he was just privateering I would say for sure just sit out and rehab. Jackson achieved so much for his career with like only one qualified race just by doing this series. Something something strike while the iron's hot (and a little broken).
