So enlightening! Kashyap can have his own KZbin series where he talks about films and books. Quentin Tarantino did something similar in the 90s. Tarantino did DVD commentary for certain foreign films that were released in the US at that point of time. (Example : Chungking Express)

@kkb9090 5 жыл бұрын
Come on Gangs of Wasseypur is overrated as fk. There are 10s of better movies produced in India every year. Just because that movie had unlimited cursing, blood and gore doesn't make that a masterpiece
@kkb9090
@kkb9090 5 жыл бұрын
Infact there were movies like Pan Singh Tomar (won the National Award for Best Feature Film), Filmistaan, Baandhon (Assamese film), 101 Chodyangal etc released that year. Regional filmmakers make awesome movies every year. Just that we don't get to know much about those movies because of lack of promotion

@@kkb9090 Absolutely not....it was a masterpiece. If you are a north Indian, you will feel like raw movie....it's so so real. @Light York Most of these movies are getting lost so this means that it wouldn't be that expensive for such huge companies. They can easily afford this easily because if the movie is disappearing, the producers won't see any loss in selling the rights cheap. But they won't buy because they will not get much in return. It won't even affect them if they keep just a few of these legendary films. They can do it just in the name of cinema or vintage pieces of art and if they try maybe even gain profit. I cannot be more elaborate than this.

I too want to be a filmmaker. Here are my fav movies 1) Close-Up 2) À Bout de Souffle 3) Stalker 4) The Godfather 5) 8 1/2 6) Les Quatre Cents Coups 7) Rashomon 8) Dekalog 9) Yi Yi 10) The Seventh Seal. As of now, I haven't watched all of Kiarostami's works but he's definitely my type of filmmaker... He makes the movies that I'd like to make.

Thanks a lot, Film Companion. This small episode is such a breath of inspiration to film aficionados, who largely are self made and self taught. AK (like say, Tarantino) simply have a passion for cinema and go forth and teach themselves by seeing world cinema relentlessly. Now, please take time to get AK to talk about those 5 influential film makers and their films. Then, speak to other Indian film makers and their influences. Not just Directors, but script writers, camera persons, editors, DPs, etc. Our magazines and TV shows are so film stars centric, that the whole back stories and influences are ignored and lost over time.

Digital files do save you from physical space and plastic waste, though. Once the CDs get depleted enough, how are you planning to discard them?

There's Anurag Kashyap who does his research on genres and other country film makers. And there's Karan Johar who likes to ask about actor's favorite colour or share gossip like a bitch on KoffeewithKaran. Karan isn't talented, he just has a bunch of talented people working for him. SOTY 2 terrible, I want a refund.
