Always on the lookout for narrowboat inspiration, we're taking a tour around a modern back cabin (based on traditional designs from 1935!) The vintage Lister engine also gives us a run for our money :-/
The brief bit of title track on this is by Wet Leg.
Check out our online shop for bags, aprons and coffee (we ship worldwide!):
www.hollytheca...
For those of you just joining us, welcome! We're Vic and Jo and we've been narrowboating around the UK for the last few years on our 54ft narrowboat Zero. Last year we decided to give up our jobs in the city and add another boat to our fleet in hope of turning it into a travelling cafe and becoming full time boating baristas. We'll also be having a baby in just a few months time!
Follow us as we learn the ins and outs of business on the water whilst cruising around the UK.
If you're embarking on a boaty DIY project yourself, this is the book (the bible) that Vic recommends: amzn.to/3f2C7nJ

Morgan is a much better actor than I thought. Baby drawers have been used in homes all over the world for as long as drawers have come into existence. That motor would not stay around in my life for very long. Always great to see you three. The more often the better.

From the second I heard Morgan Freeman's voice and watched y0our lips moving, I remembered why I have enjoyed watching Holly - The Cafe Boat. Y'alls humor is so bright and cheerful. The look of Vic hunting for those littles spots on another boat. Jo's look when she ate that first bite of cheesecake. These are priceless bits of your lives that y'all share with us. Thank you so much.

We (my 6-year-old daughter and I) went for a walk along the Trent last Sunday ( bit breezy) not a lot going on, so we walked up the Erewash, DD had her camera and was merrily snapping away at the Swans, ducks and narrowboats, we saw Zero and I thought oh nobody is home, we walked passed and went up to the bridge and back, it was then I could see the heat haze from the chimney on Zero, DD took another photo and then I realised Vic was there gazing out the window! It suddenly felt like we were intruding from the opposite side of the canal so I hurried her along! Loved the Morgan Freeman at the start of the video!l

You two are awesome! And it’s great to see you both. So Vic is the brilliant editor! I think you had said that before (that Vic edits the videos, but I inserted the compliment. Because I love the artistry of your videos!). You guys are connected, based on your intro. I slept in a dresser drawer the first 6 weeks of my life. I don’t believe that they closed the drawers when the baby was in them. It was simply a bed that was high enough by just a few inches to keep the baby from falling out. I don’t know when a baby normally rolls over. My daughter rolled over before she was a week old and my son was a preemie and was almost a year old when he did. Somewhere within the window of those two is when they normally do. Every baby is different and can doesn’t mean they will. Especially if they are comfortable. So it happens when it happens. My father was a strong man like that. Some of the things he could do was amazing. Things they use big machines and hydraulics to do, now, he could lean over and do with one hand. I was surprised to discover that not all men were that strong. My first husband was also very strong but not in a league with my father. My son is also very strong and I spotted him pulling a 6ft high American refrigeration out of the back of the truck and carrying it into the garage. I went running down when I saw him walking into the garage with the fridge but when I got there it was already positioned in the utility room. I was amazed. And appalled, worrying that he had injured his back. He shrugged it off. He’s almost 40 now and he and his back are still strong. I hope all three of you are fantastic! If you are still sleeping all night, don’t waste it! Enjoy each other and I will be happy to see you back when you can.

That was LOVELY guys .. Might I recall that 77 years ago in London NW6 - my mum used to make-up MY bed in the bottom drawer of an old chest of drawers - and when the sirens wailed to warn of German bombers overhead .. she would slide my drawer gently closed and go sit under the basement stairs with my big 2 y.o. sister Barbara until the 'All Clear' was signaled. - Dad was away in the army Commandos.

So joyful to see you again. You’re not just vloggers you’re influencers. I can that because you influenced me to take the plunge and hire a narrowboat for a week and to buy a Filson bush hat and attach a leather chinstrap so I could look like Vic. Had a wonderful time with my wife cruising on the Oxford canal. We really bonded as a crew just like you two and survived this week’s cloudbursts thanks to that hat. I’m totally hooked on your vlog and your exciting plans.

I don't know why, but this is one of your most entertaining vlogs. Probably not the 'best', because some of your others have been stunning, but pure pleasure to watch. I always find boater vlogs when there is interaction with friends - other boaters in particular - very watchable. Your mate David's boat was wonderful, although I was getting worried you were never going to get it started! I was impressed at the way you could both handle such a different boat, so skillfully. Great vlog guys and the cheesecake looked cosmic!

As a 16 year old on the construction site that's how we started the dumper, concrete mixer engines, on a winters morning we light an oily rag to warm em up a bit. One thing you never did was have you thumb and fingers right around the handle as the kick back could sprain or break your thumb. You did me in with the cheese cake, today we are out of lock down and my wife is organising a street party for our immediate neighbour's kids and maybe a few beers for us grown ups. We are still observing masks and 2m distancing, through the lock down we shared fresh produce with neighbours so we are all tolerant of one another and have been tested together. Watching the cake being shared out fitted in with our day, as much as yours great. Thanks for posting, stay safe.

The Morgan Freeman intro was beyond brilliant! Your videos are so entertaining. . . thank you for sharing them!! The chugging sound of that classic 2 cycle engine was hypnotic . . . in short, it was a pleasure to unexpectedly receive a new video from you folks. Stay well and great wishes for the birth!

Old chests of drawers - I have one - have a baby drawer, but usually not closed with baby! This is where the phrase 'lining the bottom drawer' - meaning preparing for a baby - comes from.

So good to see you both back. Jo is looking healthy. You two needed a break but we missed you. Thought maybe the baby had come. Please let us know when it does and tell us how mom and babe are doing. My pregnancy craving was cheesecake.

Great to see you again,! My son also would get hiccups, always in the middle of the night , 10 minutes gentle rocking and I could go back to sleep.

So good to see you back! I've long been a fan of old engines and have rebuilt several Lister ST and HR series. Just for fun - I usually ended up giving them away! We had our first canal boat trip this summer on a hired boat from Napton. Can't wait to do it again and if we're really lucky we might meet Holly and crew along the way. Best wishes to you both and the Little Passenger.

So lovely to have you back again... all 3, or is it all 4, of you?!! A really delightful episode, I did enjoy the look around the traditional style boat, and I wish that there was a way of pressing a button on the computer and it popping out a slice of the cheesecake. You have inspired me.... I will seek out a recipe for cheesecake and some ingredients and have a go at baking one!
