This week we're ruled by William. His schedule takes us further up the Erewash canal to Ilkeston where we seek relief from breakfast time hanger. Then back at home we attempt to make some space for our new baby things.

As new parents you will find "Maybe" will become your go-to word. Vic, other than U.S. Marines and Seals and a few BRMC's there is only a hand full of people that can enjoy how you described that time on the water. PS; it is addicting as coffee. Jo, The look in your eyes when you eat something that excites you(that you did not have to cook) and that mischievous grin, I can see why Vic loves you. And Dear William, Enjoy your time in the spotlight, soon enough your Mother will have you cracking eggs and making coffees and your Dad will be sending you in the canoe on a bin run.

I have been to England many times years ago and always enjoyed it. And now you announce you are planning more excursions into little towns and villages. That is answer to my prayers. The canals are great but on most canal channels you don't see much about the adjacent towns. I can't wait to accompany the most delightful couple, and William, on your journeys.

Being a father of two myself, I rather enjoy your latest adventures with young William the Baby. I am also a huge coffee fan, so I am missing the coffee life on Holly. Oh' well, that will no doubt be back in time, but for now, it's The William Show, and a grand show it is. As I watch, I am remembering my own experiences when we had our first child. The world became a tiny bubble with just the three of us for a little while. Discovery mixed with exhaustion. Looking back, it was one of the most formative interludes of my life. You have a lovely family. Merry Christmas.

16:35 I have to say I was out in the Pacific Ocean repositioning a 26M trawler yacht and we had a calm night out in the middle of the ocean and everything was dead calm and the ocean was like glass, and there we were powering through at about 7 kts, no moon and clear sky. The view is amazing sitting up on the flybridge about 10 meters off the water. So I am right there with you. When I am at home I had a 12M cruiser and being land locked in Texas on a 30,000 acre size lake being out in the middle at night with calm glass like lake and just shut of the engines and sit there is a great thing. Very peaceful for sure. 👍😁

William's youth. Hahaha, so sweet! BTW Carried my babies in a sling on my hip until more than a year old! So ideal- babies had 240° view almost eye to eye. Takes up 0 space. Rarely used a pram. Perfect.

It looks like Vic is nesting, cleaning and decluttering the boat. I remember doing the same when our son was born, suddenly you need to make space for 3, but more importantly it needs to be efficient use of space. The town of Ilkeston looks nice and the cafe looked great. Watching Vic eat the poached egg on nan bread made me hungry, though I like Jo's choice of a traditional English breakfast. I think I will go to our little English market tomorrow and pick up goods for some.

We are just coming along for the ride. Whatever you put up is always enjoyable. The great thing is being able to see a different life style in a different country. I'm dairy farming in New Zealand , so watching the canals in England and wandering the streets of your quaint towns is great informative entertainment. Hello from the USA. 2:30 am here...can't sleep. Thank you for your vlogs. Love you guys. So I didn't sleep much when my children were wee ones, and now it seems that I have entered another season where sleep is off course. My children are now 16, 17, and 20...crazy how fast it happened. Babies prefer bumpy rides in the pram, so do not avoid bumps in your walks and if he is objecting to time in the pram find some bumps to run over. He does not get a smooth ride when you carry him, so why should he have one in the pram?? Every step you take is a bump after all. And good that you are using a carry thing where he is facing you. That is good for his hip development. And the doctor should have told you that anyway. 🙂 Jo, all mums of new babies need that ten minute break every now and then. I can recall having chats with other mums about how we escaped from our toddlers for a minute or two each day. I used to hide behind the bathroom door others hid in the toilet, but that was my conference room. So long as the kids are safe while we 'escape' all is good.

That little hip thing is what one of our children had, called a clicky hip, one or both of her hips were not fully formed and she had to be in a splint which kept her legs apart and her hip joints from popping out until they were more developed and the splint could be removed, she then needed to be in double nappies, the terry towel ones, for a further few months, she is 43 now and has no problems.
