Wow, I was in Portugal also and now in Morocco. Impressive property, can't wait for mine in Chula Vista CA to get close to it. Thank you very much

Well you are going international now, that's great. Wonderful place to look at with all the trees and the history of the place. Hopefully he can be a springboard for avocado diversity in the area. Jan Boyce does seem to be getting more popular.

Great video and what a property! I can't believe how many varieties of avocados he has growing in North Portugal. I have just moved to a new homestead in South Spain (documenting on my YT channel) and we have established Hass avocado trees. It would be great to graft some new varieties because we are very limited in Spain. I am also always on the look out for mulberry, fig, citrus... cuttings to expand - you can never have too many!

That big lemon looks like ponderosa lemon (which is a citron hybrid) if i had to guess, not citron which is a generic term for a number of citron and citron hybrids (the original 'citron' is disputed)

Great content. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I grew avocado trees in my back yard from seed and I need to graft a scion of a dwaft avocado or any one of the smaller side tree variety. Do you have a scion that I can buy? I live in Sacramento. Thanks

So nice. You guys from the US are really blessend with avocado varieties. Im looking for 2 years now for frost resistent varieties like fantastic/lila/poncho but couldnt finde one. Im from Germany and try to grow Avocados with Winter protection. So if any of you know where to get scions or trees or if you could send me one, please let me know. Would love to grow them here. Many Regards

I live very close to him!!! I also live in Minho and I have around 300 fruit trees. The big lemons are Cidrao, very common in Portugal to make cakes. Strange that he does not have pawpaw, white zapote, sapodilha, bananas , mangoes and cherimoya ( anonas). I have them in Vila Verde, Minho

Ok so this is new to me and just to confirm, do rootstocks change fruit flavor? i have a recent potted mango from a nursery on Turpentine rootstock. No fruit yet but i am wondering now if the Mallika mango graft would perhaps produce a tweaked fruit flavor. I am not worried, just wondering how rootstocks might affect the fruit. Unless of course it has to do with a given rootstock's enhanced ability to pull nutrients from the ground for the graft. Love your content..
@AJTheGraftMan4 ай бұрын
Thanks! Great question. The relationship between rootstock and scion is more complex than people think. It might be worth doing a video about this topic.
