I also got to meet extended family members in the Skopje. Crazy my dad and grandfather never saw their home country again after they left. Thank for the video!

Yugoslavia was the founder of the unaligned movement after WW2 which was joined by many other nations of the world. Communist, but not aligned with the rest of the communist world, but rather at odds with them. Tito took donations from both the west and the east after WW2, which helped him rebuild the country's economy, which allowed for everyone to have everything they need, and more, except for you couldn't question the authority of the communists. Stalin sent dozens of assassins to take out Tito, each and every one of them failing, and then Tito sent a letter to Stalin in which he said that if he sent an assassins to kill Stalin, he wouldn't need to send another one. People loved him because there was no poverty, shortage of stuff, there was free education, medical care, free vacations for everyone, regardless of ethnicity and religion, thus trying to replace all those ethnicities with one, yugoslav.

Now about ideological freedoms - that's also arguable. We had "Hair" theatrical performances in "Atelier 212" since 1969, "Waiting for Godot" since 1956, "Master and Margarita" theatrical performances and the movie in '60 -'70, many listening to Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy etc. since '60-'70, Punk scene in late '70, etc. Of course that none of it passed smoothly, there were artists jailed for "Plastic Jesus" or "The Mystery of Organism" etc. What about Assange today, in democratic West? Or a lawsuit against Josipa Lisac, for singing a jazz version of national anthem on presidential inauguration 8 months ago, in progressive Croatia?

@D S I would take Cuba - any time, thanks : )) and would imagine from there how your rhetoric pathos persuades Greeks that Alexander the Great was not spreading Greek culture, but North Macedonian. For now, it seems that everyone is happy with bad performances of folk music all over EX-YU, no interest in poetry. How is that a progress, or multitude of ideas?

Yeah, this is great part of the world for living but economies were never strong here as in western Europe, so people are constantly moving to the west. But even if everyone returned this would still not be overpopulated part of the world, there's space for at least 3 times more. And the insane thing is there's plenty of fertile land but since the fall of socialism degree of cultivation has been going down all the time cause now it is cheaper to import mass produced food from the outside than produce your own, it's globalization insanity

Most of this country is part of Ancient Makedonia, Greece. The word Heraklia is Greek ...in English: Herkules. The language spoken by these people (Slavs) in North Makedonia is Bulgarian... Bulgaria also disputes N.Makedonian's autonomous, language & history claims. The communist, Tito stole Greek history, ordered printed false educational text books and since then, these people claim King Alexander and his father Phillipa as their progenitors. In ancient writings by Alexander, he addressed Makedonians as Greeks. The Slavs arrived in the Balkan region as slaves to the Avar army, almost a century, 900 years AFTER the death of Alexander the Great of Greeks, Μέγα Αλέξανδρος των ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ. The name and word, "Alexandros" is Hellenic in origin. No such word exists in any slavic dialect (Iskender is Alexander in Slavic). Alexander was of the Argead Dynasty (Argos, Morea, Peloponesse, Ancient Greek state) ..ie of Dorian (Ancient Greek Tribe). Born in Pella, (North Greece not far from Epirus), his life tutor was the Greek, Aristotle. Alexander's mother was also Greek from Epirus, Greece. Treaty of Bucharest 1913 where Ancient Hellenic Makedonia was split btwn Greece (51%), Serbia (33%) & Bulgaria (35‰) returning the largest portion to Greece.
