Great, this is my home town glad you liked it. It is a little run down these days but it’s still got charm, prob bit hard to see on a grey rainy day though. Told me history I didn’t even know 😆

No matter when that bridge was built, it is very nice and I enjoyed looking at it. I enjoy seeing the variety of bridges that you have shown throughout your travels. The UK has so much to see. Thanks for showing this old, broken down American the sights that I will never see in person.

Danny boy and Miss Mazzy it is wonderful to see that Van Life is treating you well. Thank you for the spot on remembrance day. We should all pay tribute to those who have passed on protecting what we believe in, shake a veterans hand thank them and their families for there sacrifice. It's not just the veteran but also their families that pay the price.

Such a nice tour of Dumfries. I do love Mazzy's hat, so stylish. Nice bit about the bridge and so funny too, it's history is a bit fluid wouldn't you say?! Difficult to pin down. Thanks for showing us about the town and the Armistice Day doings, very nice. I didn't know that about the author of Peter Pan either, that does make for an interesting back story. Sad his own mother let him know that she proffered her dead son to her live one. What a terrible thing to do to a kid. I hope writing Peter Pan helped him deal with it. Parents can be so thoughtless and cruel. I liked the statue of Robert Burns, he really was a pretty nice looking lad. I just wish his poetry was easier to read. Thanks Dan & Mazzy for another fun day, I hope you stayed warm, and those cocoa's looked delicious.

I think it's a sign of the times under austerity where places look run down. We said the same about North Wales. I liked the head with a hat on the bridge. Lovely pipes.
@revengenerd14 жыл бұрын
Dumfries has always been run down, its got a terrible local council that even 20+ years ago the local councillors cut services but would get things at taxpayers expense for themselves. The shops being empty is because the local council wants stupid high rates for shops.

Too bad about the weather but this episode was enjoyable none the less. Next time you're near a raging river like that, you can play a trick with your mind. Stare at the fast moving water in one spot for 15 minutes. Then turn around and look at something that's still. It will appear to be moving in the opposite direction the the water was moving. It's kind of freaky.

Very interesting video!! I love seeing all of the sites from that little area of the world. I'm joining you today from my little corner of the world in the south of US, North Carolina. My town is quite old for as far as the US is concerned. It was founded in 1710. A port city. It's New Bern, sister city of Berne Germany. Did you go there when you lived in Germany? Hi Mazy!!

You must have visited when the water was really high, it's usually much more lower and calm. The rundown area you mention is actually mainly old folks housing and the flats are private flats, this is actually a nice area of Dumfries. The area around Ye olde friars vaults you were spot on kebabs and fighting, i mind i got arrested down there many years ago for fighting!
