I live in sintra since I was born and I love this video. Eventhough I see these sights everyday, they never loose their beauty to me. I love seeing tourists that enjoy the historical part aswell!!
@mezoa37756 жыл бұрын
cool, what do you do in sintra? i thought it's a small town with bunch of scattered castles, never relaized that people actually live there. I was there last year and visited that castle as well. I really loved the portugese ppl i thought they are the best europeans in my opinion

Pena is for sure the most famous one, but I once read an article that there are more than 60 historical palaces/mansions that used to belong to royalty, nobility or high-bourgeoisie in the region of Sintra, it's a pretty amazing place, only been there one time even though I'm from Portugal, I'll have to go again someday cause I missed sooo much!

Wow, that castle is awesome. The views, and the architecture-so much history!

That castle is so classic! Reminds me of the castles I first learned to draw as a kid with the little notches along the side.. It's amazing how different castles can be depending on the country and time period. Enjoy Spain!

4:35 Ginjinha (sour-cherry liqueur) in a chocolate cup! That's an Óbidos thing, didn't know they have it in Sintra. Did you try that? Sugar overdose, but it's nice. Too bad you didn't go to the Quinta da Regalheira, that's the most interesting thing to see in Sintra imho.

Quinta da Regaleira is very beautiful. We didn't realize how big it is, therefore, didn't have time to see all of it.

Pena is that the same word in Spanish with the umlaut above the N meaning pineapple?
@greentuga6918 жыл бұрын
He says it wrong, its pena, and he pronounces it has "penha". Pena in Portuguese means Feather.
@CoverdaleBlue17 жыл бұрын
It can also mean "grief," "writing utensil," or "punishment." Portuguese is a weird language :-)
@NeoZeta7 жыл бұрын
Don't forget the actual meaning of it: which is Penitence.
@NeoZeta7 жыл бұрын
+Yishai Davidi Spanish "peña" means "Rock" or "Grief"; while "pena" means "Feather" or "Punishment", too. Basically same thing as Portuguese. Difference is that the Spanish "peña" in Portuguese is "penha". You are confusing it with "piña".

You're 1/3 british, what is the other 2/3?
@GabrielTravelerVideos8 жыл бұрын
No, I'm 3/4 British. The other 1/4 is Italian. But I need to confirm what the 3/4 British is, because I thought it was 1/4 English, Scottish and Irish. But then my brother thought it was slightly different. So it's something like that.

Gabe, lol don't even try explaining.

@yishaidavidi88338 жыл бұрын

Yeah when I got to the palace then I asked them how to pronounce it and it's without the accent on the n.
@yishaidavidi88338 жыл бұрын
I do speak the Spanish too but it has been a while and here in Kansas not much need.
@NeoZeta7 жыл бұрын
That's because we don't have the " ñ ". It simply does not exist in Portuguese. The Spanish " ñ " in Portuguese is represented by the " nh ". Like: España (ES) Espanha (PT)

@GabrielTravelerVideos8 жыл бұрын
That's the GoPro, I've used it in lots of my videos, you haven't noticed it before Mathieu? Maybe it was just especially distorted in this one while walking up the narrow lanes or something.
