Thank you for the tour of your very special space. It does look like a pleasant place to work and create. I’ve set up 3 new sewing spaces and redone one twice in the past 10 years. Like you, I used mostly furniture pieces I already had, and am happy with the look and function. The sewing space I’m in now is about the size of yours and serves also as a sitting (1 comfyish chair) and a guest space (a twin daybed) and space for clothing. Most of my fabric is in the room’s closet. Yes, it’s cramped, but it works!

I do enjoy learning about other people’s sewing spaces and set ups so it was definitely time I joined in 🤩 I don’t know if I have the stamina to do as many set ups and revamps as you have 😮 great to hear your set up works for you. I think we are lucky we have any dedicated space and don5 have to pack away everything after every sewing session 😍

You’re talking quietly cause you don’t want the neighbors to hear you eh 😂 I’ve stopped sewing for this. I so would treadle too if that was at my feet I have a ‘project’ trolley. I did the same you had to do… mine was an old cocktail 🍸 trolley. And had visions of rolling it around. Yet it doesn’t move with a load of stuff on it!! The sewing machine looks AWESOME!! Ohhh I have those project bags My studio is all shaggy chic too… based on my white wall unit. Love your Cotten stand. Where the heck did you get that. Love it Have you made that first pattern of the indie drawer you opened? The white dress. What is it. Hi Annie. Love the Welsh dresser. I understand the paint falling off. My unit came from a yard sale down the local church and and we dropped the top there a gauge taken out, bangs and bumps but I love it Tables like that shake when you do speed sewing on it 😂 It’s sew tidy I think my walls are too full. People keep giving me wall things. I have about 4 nail files and I still use them even with SNS nails I love my button gauge I LOVE your Studio Thank you for sharing 💖💕🦩💕🤣

I must have spun it round 20 times even though I know there’s only 4 sides 🤣🤣🤣 I will have to check the pattern out when I get up. It’s 5.30am and I’m still in bed 🤭 😁🥰 #sewtime! 🤣🤣🤣

I love seeing how other sewists organise their space. I loved your vlog, thank you. I seem to be overflowing with everything; fabric, patterns, threads, WIPs, you name it. I have always sewn, but with a vengeance for the past 10 years. I started in 2014 with quilting and mixed media, then wet felting, and only really got into sewing my own clothes about 4 years ago. I don't know how I have accumulated so much 'stuff' either. I have been sorting out and parting with some recently, but I have a lot more to go through. My sewing room was built as an extension to our bungalow in 2015 and has a separate entrance. It measures 12'6" x 16', a good size, but we never have enough space, whatever we have! I repurposed my furniture, too. I had a craft storage unit in my previous small sewing room and I purchased a very tatty dresser, then spent a lot of time stripping it back and giving it an oiled finish. It was also missing a bun foot and a friend's son, a furniture maker, turned one for me to match. It now resides in the garage conversion, as I replaced it with a Kallax unit to gain more storage. The dresser is prettier, though :-) I was lucky enough to purchase a Horn Hi-Lo cutting table secondhand, which has been a godsend and saved my back from complete ruin.

Thank you Cindy, I do love my shabby sheek furniture. I am a big fan of the Juki machines, I’ve had no problems with them at all. I upgraded and got a new Juki for my birthday very recently and just getting familiar with all the new functions 🤩😍

Oooo, how nice! A bone fide she-shed! 🥰🥰 I've got a few of those things; I've suggested to Mr. G that he might clean up my (his grandmother's) Singer cabinet. He's restored one in the past, even. And Yes! keep that pile of jeans! haha. I've wanted to get a different Jeans jacket pattern (I don't like the one I've already used once) to use the pile that's here. Most of them are w33", so not very wide pieces. 🙃 I like how you've repurposed things to work for you. My family 'heirloom' piece is an old pie safe that holds my fabric collection. Your garden and sewing room is fantastic- lovely to have so much light and space and air con- WOW how fab is that. Loving the shabby chic look too. I had a garden room for sewing before I moved house a year ago but not as big of yours. I didn’t have IKEA in there either but I did have a few kitchen cupboards for storage . I have a bedroom now, luckily with a large window. I am just so lucky to have a dedicated space - have just replaced some old cupboards for IKEA units in the dark wood. They are just SO practical. My cutting table consists of 2 garden “bar tables” butted together and covered with ironing board fabric to hold them together with cutting mats on top. Dominates the room but I love how it works for me- the height is perfect and I do everything at the table except actual sew and overlock. Thank you for sharing with us. 😊 Lynne

Thank you Linda. I keep my cutting mat in the table so it’s always flat. It seems to have survived for 3 years without getting out of shape although I do need a replacement soon as it has a lot of score marks now 🤩💕

Hi again Julie, lovely sewing space. I used to have a fully insulated summer house (husbands art studio now) I've now moved everything into the house as a double bedroom became vacant. It took 3 whole days to move everything. As you say surprising what we accumulate. I love that there isn't any IKEA and its all re-purposed. Even though I'm now indoors I have a big window so can still see the garden. Enjoy your lovely space hopefully we'll have enough good weather this year for those doors to be fully open 🌞

Yes it is overcast and cooler than yesterday which was glorious yesterday here in Southampton. I live in a bungalow so do still get a good view of the garden and watching the bluetits in and out of the nesting box, they're very busy at the moment feeding their babies. The cutting table is 23x39 inches. You can lock all 3 together. The make is Parkside, I’m sure I’ve seen them advertised quite recently but don’t recall where. Might be worth a google search. I don’t take the mat off, I do have another one to butt up alongside it

Lovely She Shed, especially in the sunshine. I would have to turn the treddle base round so that Singer was the right way round, but that's just my OCD. Do you have heating in there in the winter to stop your thing getting damp? I like the lack of Ikea. 😊

Thank you 😍 I will have to turn the table round now, I hadn’t noticed until I started recording. The room is fully insulated. The structure is raised a few inches from ground level so it doesn’t sit in water during cold wet months and yes it has heating so my fabrics are safe and dry

Lovely sewing place. Nice and bright and a great cutting/working place. I sew in the corner of our family room in the basement. I don’t have to worry about the sun bleaching my thread or fabric but it is dark. I am still thankful for that space, my Mom set her machine up on the end of the kitchen table and had to pack up all the time. I am grateful I can leave my machines out.
