This vid was very helpful. I’m considering a move to Puebla and, tho I know I love the city, I wasn’t sure if I could find an apt in centro that I both liked & could afford. The $1200-2000 price range that you mentioned is within my price range. Thanks for these vids, you’re helping a lot of us

Glad to share with everyone Mike. That was a great neighborhood and the location was phenomenal. Take a month and do the Airbnb and see if it is for you as well.

Great video, Mark and Gina! Just got back from Puebla yesterday and this was the first video I saw this morning. Puebla's one of those places that'll surprise a lot of people if they give it a look. Wonderful, modern, clean (but that ash haha...) That whole area is just amazing. It should be higher on a lot of expat lists, to be honest. Our niece is a medical student at UDLAP Cholula and we got a private tour this trip. Absolutely jaw-dropping facility. We renewed our residency for 3 more years this trip. Our next step is the actual move once a few things are completed here in the States. Then we're Atlixco-bound. Keep up the incredible work y'all!! You help me feel "at home" in the meantime.
@GringosRUsАй бұрын
I can definitely see why you chose Atlixco. What a quaint and charming little town that is just outside of Puebla. We we enamored with the beauty of it when we traveled there. There definitely is a small town charm to Puebla while it is a major city in Mexico. Glad you are enjoying the videos.

The apartment looks really nice and you had wonderful views from the roof garden! Your private garden was pretty too. It's a shame about the ash, which was worse, that ash or the constant dust in SLP? I love the colorful buildings that were shown in your drone shot! A dad joke Mark, really? 😆
@GringosRUsАй бұрын
Welll...Yeah, I am one after all. LOL It really was a nice building and a great apartment. We did enjoy our stay here. I am thinking health wise, the ash had more effect than the dust in SLP. I, for some reason, did have a hard time maintaining any energy. When we walked, I was always lagging behind and that is not the normal case. I guess we will see when we start to walk some in Centro here in Queretaro if it is a change in health or a location issue. However, since we have returned to Queretaro, I have had a ravenous appetite that wasn't the case in Puebla. Weird, but true. Puebla was very colorful, very walkable, and a lot bigger than what we anticipated. Thanks Cindy.

My husband and I were staying at a hotel just around the corner from you in mid-November. We went to a concert at a cozy venue near there, El Breve Espacio. A large part of what you are paying for with that Air BnB is location, location, location. I love the Centro Histórico of Puebla. Everywhere you turn there ids so much history and beautiful architecture. Although Puebla can be a bit too cold for my liking (at night). Too bad we didn’t see you!
@GringosRUsАй бұрын
True, it would have been fun to hook up. Yes, that location did add to the bottom line. It was a bit nippy in the evening, but then it is winter per se. LOL
@mwiebe2663Ай бұрын
I hadn’t really noticed the ash when we were in Puebla recently, but I guess Don Goyo is acting up! (Don Goyo is a nickname for Popocatépetl.) We have a home 2 hours away in Tepoztlán, Morelos and when the volcano is really acting up we get ash there as well!
@GringosRUsАй бұрын
There seemed to be days that were better than others. We could definitely see that there would be times that the ash would impact the quality of life there. Just something to consider along with everything else. Thanks.
@mwiebe2663Ай бұрын
@ Indeed. Air quality is an important consideration.

I really like Puebla too! The altitude takes time to adjust to! I live in Toluca which is at 8700 and the altitude definitely makes a difference! The people never share the sidewalk here either ... it's frustrating. We won't leaf we're still here 🤪
@GringosRUsАй бұрын
I think the combination of the altitude and the ash seemed to have an effect for sure. wonderful city that was easy to walk and very colorful. Not sure where it will rank on the list though.

The one month cost for that apartment in Mexico is double my monthly home mortgage cost in San Diego, California, one of the priciest markets in the U.S.
@GringosRUsАй бұрын
But remember, that is Airbnb pricing which is almost double what rent would be. Plus we were right in the middle of Centro so optimal location also raised it some. Thanks Angela.

I stopped renting on AirBnb years ago because of the ridiculously inflated prices and extra fees.
@GringosRUs25 күн бұрын
We will stop as well when we reach the end of our journey. As we are staying in different cities trying to find where we are going to ultimately retire to, we are only in them for one to three months. We have a lot of stuff, a car and we need certain things so Gina can work. That eliminates hotels, so we really are stuck between VRBO and Airbnb. We will be glad when we are able to stop spending that extra money on the fees and inflated rates as well. Thanks for watching.

Great video! How was your water pressure and were you able to flush toilet paper?
@GringosRUsАй бұрын
Thanks. The water pressure was very good in this unit, but the plumbing will not accommodate toilet paper. After two years, it has become second nature to look for the waste can anyway. LOL

Remember, almost half of that is Airbnb. We inquired if we were to rent it on a lease and the price was between $1,500 and $2,000. With the building amenities, quality of the apartment and location, it would be worth that amount. Thanks
@machellec5721Ай бұрын
Yeah, that is totally ridiculous to pay that price.

Do you ever get tired of moving around? Do you think you guys could just settle on a place you’ve already been without going to the rest of them?
@GringosRUsАй бұрын
Oh yeah, we definitely have gotten over the excitement of the new adventure. We just got back to Queretaro and are taking a 6 month break from the tour to sort of catch our breath. We did modify our second half of the tour a little bit to cut out a few moves. But we will continue on to the end as we also would hate to miss what may be waiting for us. This country has been so magical that we are just waiting to see what is next. Thanks.

It is really our only option when we are staying in a city for one, two or three months and want to simulate the living there experience. If it was rent it would have been about half of that cost. Once we finish our tour and select home, we will stop the use of Airbnb and then we can stop paying the exorbitant rates. Thanks.
