Please don't come to Mexico over election results. Legitimately one of the dumbest reasons for immigrating. Keep in mind Mexico is a rather conservative, fairly prolife, family oriented country. So if you come here bringing leftist SJW mentality you will not be readily welcomed.

Today I went to the dentist here in Mexico in a little town near Cholula . Anyways to be honest I hate going the dentist, but I went thinking it was an Evaluation only, so my anxiety level was fairly low. My exam was pretty quick, but when she quickly loaded up the tray with injectable meds asking me if I had any allergies, I was surprised, but with my limited Spanish, I gave her my allergy list including ONE dental med additive to which she said No problema... and showed me the alternative which I was very familiar with. she said lets go ahead and take care of the first tooth today and schedule the second one for tomorrow. I am SO IMPRESSED!! professional, Low-cost appointment ... Much better than my last experience in the states. Just had to share that... oh.. the cost? $500 pesos per tooth!!! Thanks, Gina & Mark, for some great information on short-term rentals. We might be in for a challenge as we are hoping to do 6 months in Canada and 6 months in Mexico. I have heard so many people say 6-month leases are possible in a lot of places, but I'm trusting your info because you are doing it in many cities and have seen what's possible and what's not and are very honest about it. It's a bit of a reality check for me and a bit worrisome. But, it doesn't deter me from trying to live my dream! ¡Que le vaya bien!

I have always felt extremely safe traveling in Mexico. And I'm wondering if the fact that so many foreigners in recent years - who have moved to Mexico (and choose to drive to their new home in their US or Canadian plated car) if that is making banditos looking to rob innocent victims more prevalent on highways? It's unnerving this occurs - especially in broad daylight. It makes me NOT want to ever drive on Mexican highways. I traveled Mexican highways via Bus, Taxis, and Colectivos...but not in my US plated car. This is eye opening and very scary to say the least. Thanks for sharing.
@GringosRUs5 күн бұрын
They tend to avoid the foreign plated cars as they know that the embassies get involved as well as the news media. Then the pressure increases to find them. We have driven all over Mexico during the last 2+ years and never felt threatened or unsafe. That said, I am always vigilant of what is going on around us and make sure to only stop at populated gas stations. Just have to try and not put yourself in a bad situation. It is not allowed for people to carry the firearm with them outside of their home for personal protection. Thats another thing that needs to change in the law so that people can actual carry their guns with them.
