You are an excellent lecturer, I love your explanation, so clear and with all the information. I specialised in Histology but I had wanted microbiology. With your lecture I am able to run a microbiology lab now. Thank you very much

Gram Staining: Heat fixing slides can lyse RBCs in a bloody sample, which leads to artifacts that can fool a tech into seeing gram positive cocci. Its not too common, but it happens. We don't recommend heat fixing slides in our lab. Air dry at room temp, then fix with 1 min under methanol. We also recently dropped commericial decolorizer that uses acetone-alcohol mixures, and instead decolorize with Methanol. It takes a few more squirts, but you don't risk over-decolorizing. The commercial decolorizors can rip out crystal violet too easily. Personal preference, but my gram stains always look great with Methanol. ;)

I love this vid no matter how much i watch it, it doesn't get boring! It actually made me want to be a virologist! (A branch of microbiology ) when I'm lost, I'd like to see this to remember why i want to do what i want.

Wow great explanation thank you so much. I'm just wondering where is your gloves Sir
@raghadabdu25075 жыл бұрын
i think before 9 years there is no gloves in the lab .. first specialty whose use the gloves is Dentistry!
@kiransundar21366 жыл бұрын
even its a demo session wearing gloves is mandatory sir..rules are rules..
@neilvanasch82526 жыл бұрын
kiran sundar I work in a clinical lab. Less than 10% of techs working the bench wear gloves while reading cultures. It significantly decreases manual dexterity and increases your chances of transferring bugs from one patient's plates to another.

@Yianni8484 At school we are currently studying microbiology and you do need to do a lot of calculations so match is quite useful. We have a more broad study that has more than just microbiology but chemistry is one of the main subjects, we have four hours of class every week and we have a lot of homework. Therefore I assume that chemistry is very important (we only have one hour of math each week) and will be required. I have no clue how much you get paid, probably depends on the country too.

Dear you have not discuses about biochemical reactions. How can you identify bacteria without these? On the basis lactose fermentation or colony morphology it is very difficult to report of bacterial species
