Although I did not go to this school, I love the fact that the Real is using their platform to highlight HBCUS for Black History Month.

Malcolm AdrianX READ and talk to people who actually ATTEND the school. Don't allow ignorance about HBCU's get in the way of getting your education.
@tracemoe76256 жыл бұрын
It depends on your major. All schools have signature programs that are strong and a few that are not. We are known for Engineering, Business, Nursing, Agriculture, Architecture, and Education. Overall, it doesn't matter what your major is, you will get more personal attention from faculty and staff who care about your well-being. You will not be treated like a number. And we have the resources for you to reach your wildest dreams. You just need to have the discipline and desire to succeed.
@liam13426 жыл бұрын
PVAMU actually has one of the best engineering programs in the State. Many Fortune 500 companies are getting diverse and come to PV to hire great students. They know that when they hire from PV, they'll find minorities with talents. PV opens many doors. I've been lucky to have been offered an internship from IBM last summer, and offered another returning internship with them this coming summer.
@JaneDoe-or8nr5 жыл бұрын
Malcolm I. Rank is seriously overrated. My daughter and I just returned from visiting Howard and Hampton Universities. They offered my daughter their top scholarships but still had $10k-15k need (no more full rides) and the dorms are in deplorable conditions(mold, flooding and rodents), food so bad it’s been televised, limited housing, buildings falling apart and scholarships being taken away forcing students to transfer. The only reason their ranking is high is because of academics. Other than that, I don’t see the overall value if high achieving students like my daughter coming out in debt. No thanks. My daughter received multiple full ride offers and it came down to Dillard and Prairie View. She chose Prairie View because they also included a $1200 book stipend, it’s close to Houston and they have beautiful new apartment style “dorms” with full kitchen, living and private room and bath. We met with seniors who have 6 figure careers and sign on bonuses waiting for them when they graduate from internships in engineering and business. Many corporations recruit PV students in gas and oil and other industries. It was also interesting to find that many of the professors and deans at the black Ivy Leagues earned online degrees from University of Phoenix. My daughter has proven just how smart she is by choosing PV and not succumbing to the clout. Warren Buffet said degrees are the same no matter where you go. So the only rank that truly matters are dollars deposited in the bank after graduation vs dollars spent paying back student loans.

@@yasirkhalid7788 You must not have become like them, considering you can't even capitalize the e in Exxon or even spell it right. Second of all for every one successful person out of Prairie view, I can name 5 unsuccessful ones.
