A Tourist's Guide to Bandar Lampung, Sumatra, Indonesia

There are lots of short-hop destinations from Jakarta, and the Sumatran city of Bandar Lampung is just one of them. Located on the southern tip of Sumatra, Bandar Lampung is well off the tourist trail. Which makes it all the more special.
We stay in the Sheraton (for GBP 30) and walk around the city, seeing a wonderful stilt village, saying hello to countless friendly people along the way. We finish the evening in the Marco Polo Hotel, which, as well as cheap food and beer, offers some great views of the city. The next morning I catch a taxi and see the Krakatoa Monument, the central Mosque and a Chinese Temple. I finish my tour with a trip to a little beach popular with the locals.

ive been there last week to visit coal stockpile. In my freetime i walked throught the entire beachside. Ive never seen slums like this. The trash was insane but everybody was super nice and wanted a photo with me. greetings from germany

Not too far from the beach you visited in Bandar Lampung, there is more beautiful beach with better infrastructure: Tegal Mas island.You can go to this island by boat from Sari Ringgung Beach.If you go few more kilometres there are other beautiful beaches: Pahawang island & Teluk Kiluan where you can see many dolphins swimming at the sea around Teluk Kiluan (Kiluan Bay).
