Hisham Moharam well i had been in egypt several times n the last time was 2 years ago during the riots in cairo in "maidan al tahrir" square, i was destinated to this city to investigate some cases of human rights violations ... so i could notice the descrimination of christian (qubts) especially after the abolishment of mubarak regime...i met some of the christian liders , n some of mubarak regime's asistants n oficials ... so as you can notice i had private n secret information...so i can confirm that in egypt as all arab countries christians are descriminated...

I enjoyed my visit back in 2004, it was a great and awesome place to be, And the tourist attractions is awesome I met lots of nice people and more westerners. I highly recommend it for anyone that wants to go on a holiday. don't go at the start of summer go bit before because during summer its hard to find bookings on hotels and car rentals because its packed. And remember there is more than Lebanon than Beirut go to the iconic jeita cave numbered top 3 tourist attraction in the world.

Fran Camino I've been twice to Lebanon and it's safe. During my visits, there were problems in Tripoli and Baalbek. I think, Tripoli is now safe. I am not sure about the road through the Beqaa Valley to Baalbek. I would strongly advise you to visit places outside Beirut as well - Junieh, Jbail (Byblos), Chekka, Saida (Sidon), Sour (Tyre), the Shouf, etc.

fata Morgana I went there and I can say that it's a safe country. People are living in peace and there is nothing to worry about especially in the coastal cities (like batrun, madfun..) where the young people enjoy their beach parties until sunrise. I also went out at night in Beirut (hamra street, zeituna bay, raouche, ashrafiyeh, gemayze..etc) and nothing bad happened.. It's a nice and safe (for now at least)country to visit and I hope that the situation in the middle east improves. Lebanese, like many others in this world, are just sick of wars..

@tonimajic6 жыл бұрын
I agree to a certain extent but all the interference from Syria and Israel certainly did contribute to the civil war, turning friends Muslim and Christian against each other. Certainly all the corruption does not help. The Lebanese people are fantastic people and should insist that their country have a true democratic political system not controlled from outside and not be divided against itself. All those political factions working for themselves instead of uniting under ONE government, the LEBANESE government. Only then will you see peace.

@xCUBITUSx8 жыл бұрын
+Miss Kamalakshi there's no such thing as arabs. Lebanese are descendants of ancient phoenicians and talks arabic. Ethnically they're semitic caucasian race. Arabic is not a race.
@TheCliffoliva8 жыл бұрын
+Has AA and even if you are arab it doesn't mean all arabs are same or bad, BUT Phoenicians are definitely not arabs.
@tonimajic6 жыл бұрын
That's like saying all Australians are English. Just because the Lebanese speak Arabic doesn't mean they are true Arabs. This is an ongoing argument but the claim that Lebanese are decedants of Phonecians and therefore not exactly Arab... has some strength. We were occupied by the Ottoman Empire for 400 years and the language is definitely Arabic, and we are surrounded by Arab nations, but still there is something slightly different about Lebanese. Read the following from Wikipedia explanation says it the best. Identity Main articles: Lebanese nationalism and History of Lebanon The people residing in Lebanon-both those who would become Muslim and the vast majority who would remain Christian, along with the tiny Jewish minority-still spoke Aramaic,[33] or more precisely, a Western Aramaic language.[27] However, since at least the 15th century, the majority of people of all faiths living in what is now Lebanon have been Arabic-speaking,[34][35] or more specifically, speakers of Lebanese Arabic, although up until the 17th century, travellers in the Lebanon still reported on several Aramaic-speaking villages.[36] Among the Lebanese Maronites, Aramaic still remains the liturgical language of the Maronite Church, although in an Eastern Aramaic form (the Syriac language,[37] in which early Christianity was disseminated throughout the Middle East), distinct from the spoken Aramaic of Lebanon, which was a Western Aramaic language. As the second of two liturgical languages of Judaism, Aramaic was also retained as a language in the sphere of religion (in the Talmud) among Lebanese Jews, although here too in an Eastern Aramaic form (the Talmud was composed in Babylonia in Babylonian Aramaic). Among Lebanese Muslims, however, Aramaic was lost twice, once in the shift to Arabic in the vernacular (Lebanese Arabic) and again in the religious sphere, since Arabic (Qur'anic Arabic) is the liturgical language of Islam.[citation needed] Some Lebanese Christians particularly Maronites, identify themselves as Lebanese rather than Arab, seeking to draw "on the Phoenician past to try to forge an identity separate from the prevailing Arab culture".[38] They argue that Arabization merely represented a shift to the Arabic language as the vernacular of the Lebanese people, and that, according to them, no actual shift of ethnic identity, much less ancestral origins, occurred. with their own histories and lore, and that therefore they do not belong to the one pan-Arab ethnicity, and thus such categorisation is erred or inapplicable. Certain portions of Lebanon's Christian population in particular tend to stress aspects of Lebanon's non-Arab prior history to encompass all Lebanon's historical stages, instead of considering the beginning of Lebanese history being with the Arab conquests.[citation needed] In light of this "old controversy about identity",[38] some Lebanese prefer to see Lebanon, Lebanese culture and themselves as part of "Mediterranean" and "Levantine" civilization, in a concession to Lebanon's various layers of heritage, both indigenous, foreign non-Arab, and Arab.
@tonimajic6 жыл бұрын
The Maronites in particular, never lost their religion even through the Ottomon occupation, they hid in the mountains and maintained their original heritage... so NO, they are NOT Arabs.

I visited Lebanon before. I am an egyptian. The visit was great. My friend AMGAD is a palestenian man. We have known each other since we were 5 years old. He went to lebanon but now he is in emirates. He wanted to live in lebanon forever and be lebnanese with his father and mother. His father is working as an engineer. He says that living in lebanon is great but not safe and there is not much money. Lebanon is very small and it doesn't have things to get money excpect making girls naked and tourism. In Egypt, when abd el naser was there he changed egypt. He made factories selling buses and series of cars and tourism and selling plants but now that is not in egypt. I am not critizing lebanon of having this problem only, also the arab world. Emirates has tourism and patrol to get money from but Emirates also has a problem because patrol will end after 21 years so arabs have to search for science and new tegnology like america, canada and others. By this america will fall down and we will get up nd be united. I hope some people have benifited and start working.
