Forget about the tri-dubs, you how Westbrook could put his talent to best usage? Via playing defense like a hyena on the perimeter. He's quick, energetic and driven. He could drive opposing perimeter players nuts by staying in their face all the time. Once he's willing to do it, he'd be of great help to a team.

Don't get too excited about WestBRICK'S good game last night. You will regret him being a Nugget going forward. Just look at his very poor career shooting stats. His overall FG shooting percentage is a horrendous .404 this season. His perimeter shooting stats this season is a atrocious >.326. Be mindful that he is a career .306 3 point shooter. He is also shooting a terrible .628 from the charity line. DON'T COUNT YOUR CHICKENS BEFORE THEY HATCH.

does Westbrook really deserve flowers though? 11 PPG 6.5 APG 4.1 RPG on 40.4% from the field and 32.6% from 3. They’re on a 3 game win streak and most of that is Herculean efforts by Jokic. He scored 56 and followed it up with 48. How long can Jokic, all 6’11” 270 pounds of him, keep this up? Westbrook wasn’t doing it for it for a potential contender. This Nuggets team is the same team that won it all just 2 seasons ago. They lose a couple of role players they’re having trouble replacing but if Braun plays like he did before his injury, MPJ keeps making improvement, Murray wakes up and keep doing what he’s doing it will be interesting to see how this Denver team finishes up.!

Jesus, I'm gonna say this, Russ should start
@siantan3012 сағат бұрын
He should move the needle for the second string.
@awm63689 сағат бұрын
Over the first third of the season he's been Denver's 2nd best player, but he's 36, if you give him starter's minutes now he'll be worn out by playoff time. I think they'll start integrating him into the starting role in the last 10 games or so-- to keep his legs fresh for when they actually need him.
@sammyslam14 сағат бұрын
No he should start. Both the eye test and analytics show this. Put Russ at pg and Murray at sg. Shift Braun to the high level reserve role where he was exceptional. The Nuggets are 5-1 with Russ as a starter and 6-1 when he plays 30+ mins. That is a winning % above 80, which makes The Nuggets elite. In all the other games they are below avg(8-9) and look lethargic and disinterested. This allows Murray to lead the reserves. When you have a two star system, you want one of the two best players on the floor at all times and shifting these roles allows The Nuggets to do just that but gives Murray better players in that second unit by adding Braun there(reducing Strawther's minutes) With Russ as a starter with the other 4 Nuggets starters(meaning no Murray) The Nuggets are +28 vs +12.5 with Murray and those same 4 starters. That's the difference between really good and elite. Once again more Russ makes The Nuggets elite. You can see it on the floor, especially the Jokic/Russ two man game where Jokic becomes the most dominant offensive player since Wilt Chamberlain! It doesn't seem possible but Russ also makes Jokic better and way more dangerous than Murray does but we have to respect the championship duo and we have seen the Jokic/Murray two man game work in the postseason. So you start Russ and Murray like they did last night and encourage them to defend like they did in the 1st and 4th qtrs. Now instead of relying on Strawther, you would be having Braun in those 2nd and 3rd qtrs as a key reserve, meaning stronger defense. You want to try to get that Jokic, Gordon, MPJ, Murray, and Russ five man starting group to the elite level, so something like an 128-130 offensive rating vs an 108-112 defensive rating for a +18/+20 type net rating. That means they need to play a lot of minutes together as a starting unit. Braun comes in at either the 5:00 or 6:00 min mark with Murray sitting and Braun helps close the 1st qtr. Murray comes back in at the 8:00 min mark(that gave Russ 8 full minutes on pace for 32) Murray closes the 1st qtr with Braun. This allows Coach Malone to choose whether to keep Jokic on the floor for the entire 1st qtr or sit him at the 10:00 min mark so he can start the 2nd qtr(which is what i would do) Jordan can play those last two minutes of the 1st. Coach Malone needs to be creative.
@dwinebrillo22 сағат бұрын
Russell Westbrook is a higher level of Bruce Brown.. During the championship season of Denver Bruce have played a very significant role for them to win a title on both ends of the floor. Energy of both Defense and Offense. Now, Westbrook is putting it on a higher level on Offense and performing at same level of competition on Defensive end just like Bruce did. By the way the next move they do must trade Jimmy Butler for MPJ. Even thou Jimmy is older yet he is very reliable on both ends of the floor. MPJ is a defensive liability.
@siantan3020 сағат бұрын
Westbrook has always been high energy! He was just given the chance to carry a team. Now mind you, he is hyper athletic but he is not the best of them scorers. He can play 3rd fiddle to an extremely talented scorer but he has to accept that in mind so that he will become successful. Not every player has to contribute to scoring but through defense, play making, doing the little things that can impact the game in a high level. It may not be flashy but it can get them through the needle!

Yes WestBRICK is a hustler, but he is the worst perimeter shooting backcourt guard after Ben Simmons. He looks good at rare moments, but he stinks up the arenas most of the time. He has a atrocious 3 point shooting percentage, yet he keeps shooting from there. He has a career .326 shooting percentage from the 3 point range, and is only shooting .306 this season, yet keeps shooting them. His name should be WestBRICK , and he shoots so many BRICKS, he could start his own construction company, the BRICS nations are trying to recruit him. Moreover he makes so many turnovers, he could open up his own pastry bakery. Make mine blueberry turnover please. Furthermore > Though being born in California, and he went to UCLA, the Lakers got rid of him, because they witnessed how erratic he was, with his turnovers and poor perimeter shooting, that destroyed the team. The Nuggets will eventually regret bringing him to Denver. MARK MY WORDS !
@siantan3018 сағат бұрын
It is true that he has been erratic at times even in his rookie year. Dunking and flying when he should just be getting an easy layup. But now, he is no longer the center of attention and Jokic does not mince words and actions. He will keep Westbrook grounded and Brodie will break the ice once they get to sticky situations.
