I love this! A trail for everyone. Wow, who would've thought? That only happens in other states. Great job SBTS. The Pro-Wilderness and PCT folks should take a lesson from you!

Loving the work. I work for the FS up in a rural community in Eastern OR, and am actively using your story as a model to show what a trail system can do for rural economies.

Thanks for the preview. I'm very excited for the expansion of one of my favorite riding areas. I also love that it will be multi-use. I regularly tell people about this mythical land where motorized and non-motorized users get along and respect the trails.
@Backcountryhiker3 жыл бұрын
I'm a hiker and am in favor of strict control of trails, especially if they are designated "hikers only" and no motorized vehicles. However, for a balanced approach to our land use, this is a great idea. Not only will it benefit small communities in that section of California, it will mix hikers with bikers, etc., and being established for that purpose and maintained with environmental concerns in mind, this is a great approach for access for all. We already have designated trails that are set aside for limited use so this balance will be an asset to everyone. Good planning, proper maintence, environmental supervision should make this trail something that will be used for the benefit of all.

Fantastic! Makes me homesick for the Sierras! I moved to Fruita, CO for MTB last summer but after a few years exploring the Rockies we want to return to the Lost Sierra.

Really nice doc style insight into the project. As a trail/enduro rider... I want to get out there! I have a totally unsolicited suggestion for future video, take it or leave it, putting my producer hat on: take the riding down a notch. I am in Southern Marin, and perhaps more aware of people's bike phobias. This may not apply in your area. Although the riding footage is awesome, it's also fast and furious... not exactly the message to send to hikers and other users about bikes... at least in my experience. Also, arguably not the style of riding most of us mortal riders are capable of! As pure bike/trail porn... it's great. Nice work and I'm behind the project!
@climberevan3 жыл бұрын
I agree that the riding shown is at a high level, but I thought it was SUPERB that they didn't do any skidding or stupid trail destruction in the riding shots. Also, having spent a lot of time in the Lost Sierra myself, I suspect the majority of the trail users that this new project will bring will be mountain bikers and motos, not hikers. Obviously we should all be courteous, but it's certainly possible to ride fast without being destructive and rude.

Originally from NoCal central valley. Live in Chile for past 2 decades. Whenever I go home, I hit these trails bc they're as world class as there is out there. Hoping everyone who watches this video, rides these trails, or is aware of this work either shares to build awareness or donates what they can to keep the great work going. Saludos po!

This is a great idea. I often wondered why rural communities in WV, KY, TN haven't done anything like this. Locally we have a "Rails to Trails" system that converted old railroad trails to bike, walking, snowmobile trails.

I hope this actually happens, but I am not sure how equestrian and motorized users are going to coexist. Horses don't all respond that well to noisy motor vehicles....and as a dirt bike rider and mountain bike rider, I can attest that some people who ride off road vehicles can act like douche bags. Something about motors brings out the worst i people....especially people who ride quads. Just calling it like it is... I hope they can come up with a way to have everyone coexist.

And here I always thought that bikers riding double wide on roads and never letting cars pass were the jerks.... hm.

This is a complete turn-off for people who want to hike the area. We HATE to share the trail with mountain bikers. If you want to attract the full range of users, edit your video to show some hikers at least.
@pamelaforman87103 жыл бұрын
Love the idea of this trail - but dirt bikes? Horses and dirt bikes don't mix, so not really a "trail for everyone"
@justajumpin3 жыл бұрын
Sure they do. I am an avid horsewoman and also a dirt biker. Horses should obviously be trained to handle startling things before taking them out on trails, but once people actually know how to handle a horse encounter (turn off bike, take off helmet, say hello) we can all get along.
@LGguedo3 жыл бұрын
I dirtbike and love seeing horses on trail. It’s the norm in many places. Not hard to coexist, just takes a little bit of respect both ways.
@otousan3 жыл бұрын
Beautiful video! But to me it shows a bunch of white people (save for glimpses of one African-American and of bottles of Sriracha) constructing a magnificent non-hiker-friendly trail. It looks like I'll have to pass.

How long before this trail system is littered w/ tolls, Dunkin Donuts, condos, and strip malls? PS: Next time "you" come up with something like this... PLEASE DON'T ANNOUNCE IT!!!
