Jordan Bauth yep! One of my hardest challenges as a coach is to get my dance girls to STOP spotting. My students who did ballet before skating are such a joy to teach, but their spins are so awkward in the beginning because they keep trying to spot. 😂

There's only two rinks where I live, one 50 minutes away, the other 1h15min away, I'm in my final year of school and schoolwork is piling, exams are every 3 months, yet I still go to the rink twice a week between all my commitments. Don't let yourself make excuses for not pursuing what you want to do!

I can only dream of skating ... I used to do it for therapy as a child, (I have cerebral palsy, my left foot/leg doesn't work well) along with ballet, but I obviously can't succeed. I still sometimes skate (terribly) in my local skating rink each year, (I live in Florida, so the skating rink doesn't open until November 12th) but not much because it's simply humiliating falling on my ass every time I try to attempt to go backwards. Do you know the easiest tricks that doesn't need both legs? Just for funzies, though. ^^

Okay so I am interested in skating and I’m not looking to do it competitively but just for fun and I’m wondering if that’s a thing that people do or if I’ll actually need to compete? Because I want to set my career in something completely different but I never really was very good at team sports but I’ve been told I need to do something active...I’m 13. i would work on endurance training off ice! i used to do sprint intervals... so 2 minutes sprinting 1 minute rest and repeat 10 times... as far as staying calm, think of key terms to think about in your head before each element so you are focused and stimulating your brain but not overthinking or second guessing! you can do it!!

i don’t know if you will respond but i noticed you are a right foot spinner and i’m having trouble with my coach deciding wether or not i’m truly a right spinner and i write with my right hand? usually it’s right hand left foot do u have advice?? do you right with your left hand and that’s why u spin on your right foot??

Kierra Bourque not sure if this will help but I do my spins on the foot I’m strongest with and I’m right handed so I use my left foot it just offers more balance . Most my friends who are right handed use their left foot for spins so maybe try that out if you’re right handed

I’m not the person you wanted to respond but I think I can help, I think everybody has the fear of failing when it comes to something new and it’s normal. Just try your best, try and plan a fitting schedule, exercise and stretch daily but don’t strain yourself, of course and just have fun during the process, the anxiety is a normal feeling we all get when trying something new, getting a new passion or being afraid to fail. Just start off with the basics and don’t rush yourself, it’s sometimes about the fun you will have during the process and not always the result. I hope this helped even a bit! :D
