Today, as I write this, it is 10 years to the day since Michael’s accident. It’s fitting actually, I reunited with longtime friends from Germany today after about a decade of not seeing them (I’m from the northeast US so I don’t really see them ever) and they’re into simracing as well so we drove the F2004 at the Nordschliefe in Assetto Corsa. Keep fighting Michael. Jimmy, I doubt you’ll see this considering this video’s age, but thank you. You got me into simracing and properly back into cars, and I’m enjoying being a part of the community, both virtually and now IRL with the Audi TT I just recently bought, so much.

As a young German back in the day Michael Schumacher was the driver that got me into watching F1. And to me he's still the greatest I've ever seen. Nice tribute you did there. Disclaimer: I can understand that people argue that Senna was better than Schumacher but unfortunately I was just six years old when Senna passed away, so I didn't get to witness much of his glory.

I cant remember the race but I was like 9 yrs old and my dad was screaming like "go schumacher go!!" and schumacher did like 4 stop strategy and came out in first, he did like 30 quali laps in race that was so awesome to watch

I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing as well. Having a pint with my dad at a pub in Windsor on my last day visiting my parents for Christmas that year. His phone went off and all he said was "Oh no." when he read the headline.

I remember getting a text message from my dad (both of us are huge fans of Michael) about his accident, stormed to the nearest PC to find out what had happened and being depressed for days and days... I can't wait to hear some at least-not-bad news about him soon. Thanks for doing this Jimmer! As a fin i always rooted for Häkkinen and absolutely loved watching Michael vs Mika battling it out in the 90's when i was a teenager, The best era for me personally in F1.

My favorite rivalry, I always rooted for Michael during that time. Lots of respect and lots of clean racing between them, which I think a lot of people forget. Qualifying was as good as some modern races. Hakkinen was unreal in 98. Schumacher pulled a dodgy move on Hakkinen once, Hakkinen told him off for it and that was that. They were both excellent role models in those seasons.

It is a very emotional remembrance for me today as well - I had the privilege to grow up watching Schumi from the Benneton days to his retirement and then his return in 2012. It was more than just the numbers - he is greatest driver not only because of the numbers but his sheer determination, his sheer will to win, the drive to succeed and the cutting edge that no other driver ever had, the closest to him being Ayrton Senna. Schumacher could read a race, could be consistent, driving the car at the very edge lap after lap after lap, consistently beating the other much faster cars. When BMW Williams had insane speeds, he could still outdrive them. I found this particularly brilliant at Monza where cars used to cut back on the revs slightly to save the engines whilst the BMW monsters just ran at full revs. I don't care how many times old Blessed wins the championship - even if he did 7 times or more, wont' matter, sadly F1 today is not really comparable to the era in which Schumi dominated. Today it is all about tyre management and fuel management, the car that can do that the best can dominate. It is not so much about driver skill anymore, but the equipment with which the driver goes onto the track. Gracie Michael for the best memories of my childhood. I think it is time for me to hop into AC and into that old F2004 for some nostalgia. Thanks Jimmy, this video means a lot to many of us personally I think.

Me too, i idolized Schumacher back when I was a child. When I saw a red f1 with horse logo on it, i knew that was him. During my 6 grade days, I also watched an f1 documentary made by local tv station in my country. One of its section featured Senna's car crash that cost his life and Schumacher matched his winning numbers with Senna's and he cried during interview. I was devastated too, watching him cried like that. And at 8 grade, I fully understand on why he cried back then. Happy 50th birthday, Schumacher.

What a blast that was!! Nice to see a Jordan car in the proper 7up livery, a fitting tribute to the legend that is Michael Schumacher. He knew how to make inferior machinery that much better than it actually was, as evident with the Benetton that he used to win his first two F1 crowns against the much superior Williams cars. And you are right, the engine in the Jordan 191 was a Ford engine, Eddie didn't yet make the colossal cock-up of fitting a Peugeot until the next season. When I think of Schumacher, I think of the battles he had with Mika Häkkinen in the late 90's. I remember here in Finland Schumacher was portrayed as bit of a villain by the media and I bought it. Luckily later on I learned to appreciate him as a driver and a human being.

I'm generally pretty fickle about the videos I like. This one, however, I could have liked a million times over!! Excellent driving (I think we can excuse the pile-up - I don't think any of us saw that coming!!!). But the constant, informative and passionate commentary throughout, whilst concentrating on the frantic action (that two-position overtake was IMMENSE!) was exceptional. I was at that very race and actually pulled Michael Schumacher from the envelope in a sweep stake. At the time he was a well-known sport car driver but no-one had any idea of how good he was or would go on to be. I remember being blown away by his qualifying performance and it's such a shame he broke down so early in the race because it would've been great to see. Considering in that same race that his team-mate De Cesaris was pressing Senna for the lead for a number of laps then it's not inconceivable that Michael could have been challenging for the lead in his first ever race.......in a Jordan.

There's a good app that his family have helped release that let's you take a virtual tour of his personal collection, see interviews with people like Brawn, Villeneuve, Hakkinen, etc. about him, short general tips from the man himself about racing and various other cool pieces of content. I think this is their way of giving the fans something, when they know people are dying to know more about his current condition but they feel obliged not to reveal details (a decision I totally respect). It's worth downloading.

I am a huge Schumacher fan, and think the best MS race was Hungry 1998, with a 3 stop strategy, Micheal drove qualifying lap after qualifying lap, and won the race by nearly 20 seconds from the much faster McLarens

I’m brazilian and a huge Senna fan...like crazy Senna fan...but Schumacher was also a fantastic driver. What he archived, some episodes of his carreer makes it quite amazing. Belgium 92/97, Spain 96, Brazil 06 where he climbed the field, that pole in Monaco 2012, Valencia also in 2012...he was amazing, and to me just next to Senna in what he mean to the sport.

Just so you know, that car was capable of taking au rouge flat. According to Gary Anderson, on the weekend of the race Michael was first to do it flat in the second part of practise. His vastly more experienced team mate, Andrea de Cesaris was only able to make it flat at the end of qualifying.

After another couple of laps he was 15 seconds ahead. I think it was this race where Jean Todt came on the radio to MS and told him to please slow down. (Of course it helped him that Williams were mad enough to let their cars start on slicks.)

anti fog trick i do on HTC Vive not sure if the same on Oculus, i will use a small cloth against the sensor to trick the headset into staying on and will let it worm up for about 5 or 10 min depending how cold it is by you. with the headset already up to temperature i get less to no fogging once i put it on. also love the vids as always Jimmy !
