The great step forward made by Ferrari with respect to the competitors was made with the F2001. That year it was several levels forward in terms of aerodynamic. It deserves more credit

@@emilekaram6094 It was not as dominant as the two you mentioned. I was talking purely in terms of advancements brought in comparison to its predecessor. In this sense, the leap forward of the F2001 compared to the F2000 was bigger than that of the F2002 compared to the F2001 and that of the F2004 compared to the F2003.

@Emile Karam Again, my argument was not about dominance but about improvement compared to the previous year. My personal ranking in terms of dominance is as follows: 1. F2004 2. F2002 3. F2001 Oh, another point in favour of the F2001 (i am in love with that car as you can see :D): that is the Ferrari F1 car of the Schumacher era that achieved the highest number of pole positions (13), more than the F2004 and F2002.

@@gival9042 13 with the addition of the 1st 2 2002 races I think, but I think this car was more like a qualifying car unlike F2002 and F2004 who focused more on the races. And Schumi had his personal best season in 2001, so yeah that's why he was able to get that much of poles in this car, but had Montoya been there for a year already like 2002, we would've taken some of Michael's poles in 2001 like 2002, cause 2001 Williams was of course better and closer

I tried to do something similar for Kimi Räikkonen and came up with this list: Ferrari F2007 McLaren MP4-20 (2005) Lotus E20 (2012) Ferrari SF71-H (2018) McLaren MP4-17D (2003) Ferrari F2008 Lotus E21 (2013) McLaren MP4-19 (2004) McLaren MP4-21 (2006) McLaren MP4-17 (2002) Ferrari SF70-H (2017) Sauber C20 (2001) Ferrari F60 (2009) Ferrari SF16-H (2016) Ferrari SF15-T (2015) Ferrari SF14-T (2014) McLaren MP4-20 coming second to F2007 comes mainly down to reliability problems, otherwise I think it was a faster car. I rate the Lotuses quite high as Räikkonen returned to F1 with a much needed motivation and dragged those cars to wins, while F60 is far down the order despite the win in Spa simply because it was a dreadful season and an unconvincing car for Ferrari. His second stint in Ferrari offered us some of the worst F1 cars Räikkonen ever drove, with SF14-T comfortably at the end of the list.

I understand that he won his championship in the Ferrari.. but I'd say the McLaren is just a bit better...

The 2017 Ferrari was much better than most cars on this list. The 2015 car was also quite good, much better than the 2002, 2004 (a truly horrible car) and 2006 McLaren. The 2014 Ferrari was quite bad as well, roughly as uncompetitive as that Sauber I think.

@@Cdub_socks I share the same sentiments, I started watching F1 in 2003 and I'm in love with McLaren ever since, those West liveries are unbeatable. But objectivelly speaking, F2007 was just far more reliable and thus better as a whole. Subjectivelly I would put MP4-20 at the top.

The 1995 Benetton wasn't that special I think. In fact, the 1995 title battle was pretty close until Hill cracked under pressure at the end of the season. In 1994 Schumacher was very dominant until he started doing stupid things (that is, repeatedly overtaking Hill in the formation lap). The 2005 Ferrari cannot be that bad as it evolved from arguably the best Ferrari ever produced (I do think the 2002 Ferrari was better; it was more consistent), but tire problems really hurt them. Personally I would rank the 2003 car above the 1999 car and maybe even the 1998 car. The worst Mercedes was probably the 2011 car. The 2010 car was at least capable of scoring podiums and 4th or 5th fastest. The 2012 car was quite good at the beginning of the season, but the lack of development really hurt them as the season progressed. Probably the 2012 and 2010 Mercedes should be ahead of the 1996 Ferrari.

I'd still put the F2003GA above the F300. Both cars he won 6 races a piece with but only one championship. Mika was ahead on points going into Suzuka and even if he'd finished 2nd instead of winning it he still would have won the title over the Schumacher. If I remember correctly Mika was ahead by 4 points and could have just cruised behind Schumi and still got it.

F2002 should’ve gone top IMO - won every race it entered that year bar one (Monaco). And it was never really caught on pace all season - whereas the F2004 was starting to get caught by season’s end.

F2002 just edges first instead of F2004. Schumacher finished every single race on the podium, one 3rd position being his lowest position of the season

And that 3rd place came at the Malaysian GP when the Ferraris were still running the F2001 chassis. The F2002 was introduced in Brazil the following round and went on to win. The B-spec of that car was also used for the first four round of 2003, and remained competitive, winning in San Marino and setting the fastest lap of each GP in 2003 up to that point (looking at the fastest time set in practice/qualifying), took pole in 3/4 races and fastest lap in 3/4 races before the F2003-GA was introduced at the Spanish GP. If one compares the F2004M which ran for the first two rounds of the 2005 season vs. the F2002B in 2003, the latter was much quicker (the F2004M was roughly off by 0,8 % (Australia) and 1,5 % (Malaysia) by the quickest time set during the weekend. In terms of fastest lap 0,6 % (Australia) and 1,5 % (Malaysia)). Of course it is a bit unfair comparison because the rule changes from 2002 to 2003 was less significant to Ferraris domination than the 2004 to 2005 changes (especially the one tire rule and the changes to the diffuser).

In 2004, the only 2 races he wasn’t on the podium were Monaco (crashed in tunnel), and China (puncture, collision), but he still set fastest laps in both of those races. This list is about the cars, not what he did. If anything they’re tied, and the 2004 gets it on looks for a tiebreaker.

I personally love the Ferrari F2004 and the Benetton B195, but also the Ferrari F1-2000, Ferrari F2002, and the Benetton B192. They're honestly some of the most beautiful F1 cars, with those gorgeous liveries, and probably some of the best sounding V10 (and V8) engines, too!

Well the b194 only had a V8 engine whereas the williams had a more powerful V10, Schumacher was also excluded from a few races. The R26 was faster during the first half of the season until the mass damper got banned i guess, it was very close between ferrari and renault in 2006.

I actually agree with the top 5. The F2005 would have been right up there if it had Michelin tires, but the tires are part of the car. However the Jordan 191 should be dead last. The car was very slow and very unreliable when in comparison to every other car on this list. Plus the B191 even won a race with Nelson Piquet.

Considering that there were 32 point scoring opportunities that year, were retired or DSQ from 15, they still ended up in 2nd place in the WCC. That's a strong car!

I'd put the F2002 on top, it was more dominant than the F2004 and over the course of the season only widened the gap over the opposition whereas by the end of 2004 the competition had closed up, at least a little.

As someone who started watching F1 in 96 i am a bit sad to see the f310 not be higher. Yes with benefit of hindsight it was ugly and schumi dragged it to results. But that race in Spain 96 is iconic, on a par with Senna at Donington. Its also just an icon because it is Schumi's first Ferrari.

I think between late 80s and early 2000s the cars were the worst and most boring. You really needed livery to distinguish them. Similar today to be honest. Before the 80s cars were weird and funky looking and I loved it. For a while in the mid 2000s you had interesting concepts like the shark fin, walrus tusk nose, the devil horns, and other funky wing designs. Then they killed it in 2009, and we had penis noses in F1 for several seasons and still used by a bunch of teams.

Interestingly enough, Schumacher was of the of the opinion that the B195 was proportionally not as good as the B194, it was the first car Benetton designed to accommodate a V10 Renault engine, rather than the Ford V8 that they'd used for years. As such, it was more of a packaging compromise. It also meant that it was more of a knife edge car to drive, Imola 1995 was a case in point, got slightly off line in the damp conditions and ended up putting Imola's improved safety facilities straight to the test. Putting it simply, the B195 wasn't as good a car as the B194, but as a team, they were on point. They frequently came up with better strategies to outfox the Williams team

The F2002 was the most dominant Ferrari, Schumi finished all races on the podium. And for the B194, he won 8 of 12 races(9 with Spa's disqualification for excessive wear of the wooden flat bottom because of a spin), for the TC scandal, I don't think they used it because Verstappen, Lehto and Herbert were way slower than Michael. If they had used it, Benetton would have won both championships.

the 96 Ferrari and the '05 Ferrari I'd rate really low, especially because these are the cars where he showed just how good he was...specifically Spain 1996 and San Marino 2005. Those races just said, forget if you like him or not, he's just the best.

But Brawn later revealed to him that the board are chasing after Lewis and thinking Both of their time at Mercedes have reach conclusions so he agree to retire if they got Hamilton.

The Ferrari F2002 should be on top in my opinion. Yes, the car was launched in the Brazilian GP, but was dominating out of the box till the first 3 races of 2003. The F2004 was dominating but only in the 2004 but when they used it on the 1st few races of 2005... the car lost its edge. Thats just my 2 cents.

I have agree pretty much with your list, if it was a best looking list, the Jordan would win!! However, what it shows is Michael didn't have it all his own way with great cars. Winning in some that weren't great shows how freely talented he was. . Anyway, on his 50th birthday I wish him well. Keep fighting Michael..

My Ranking F2O02 F2004 F 248 F1 ( Totally underrated .From Indy to Brasil was widely the best car . I think the prime Schumacher could win that Championship. Even the young Felipe won 2 races with that car underneath ) Benetton B195 Ferrari F2001 Ferrari F 2003 ( strong car , i think the difference among michelin e bridgestone made that season tight ) Ferrari F 2000 ( McLaren was a bit better in terms of pure speeding ) Ferrari F399 Benetton B194 Ferrari F300 Benetton B192 Benetton B 193 Ferrari 310B Mercedes W03 Mercedes W01 (not so bad at all . Methodology: How good were Schumacher's teammates and how well did they do with the car? Example: B192 comes above the B194 because Brundle achieved 11 points finishes in 12/13 races. 5 of which were podiums. Verstappen/Lehto/Herbert achieved naff all with the B194. Also, unlike the WIlliams FW14B and McLaren MP4/7, the B192 was a manual rather than semi-automatic car. Example 2: F300, Eddie Irvine finished 4th in the championship and was on the podium in half the races. Only finished 9 points behind Coulthard who had a much superior car.

I hate to say this. To me...F1 cars by looks. They generally all look the same to me. Even if there are subtle differences. You have to go back to the close wheeled design of the Jags to have me see a car that stands out on looks. Though that design is like 60 years old and banned. Though I am an American dude that watches NASCAR that seems to get the stuck up noses of all F1 people. Even though NASCAR "Stock Cars" are closer to production cars (or were). And generally, the technology from a NASCAR "Stock Car" ends up for the public a lot sooner than an F1 car.....and fewer ban on what can go into a car. And the bans that are in place. The stories behind them are as funny as they are inventive.

I agree with your list but not with the statement that Schumacher would have won 1999 championship without the leg injury. Häkkinen had more points than Schumacher even if we only counted the points from races where Schumacher participated. Irvine got so close to winning the title cause Häkkinen and Schumacher made each other better on the track and Häkkinen wasn't driving as well as usual with Michael missing.

The F2004 surprised Ferrari by how quick it was but wasn't the F2002 car the most dominant, even winning in 2003. But this is Michael's best cars and he performed better in the 2004 car although the 2002 car was actually better.
