More sadness with the passing of Freddie Salem of the Outlaws. He stepped into place in the band and was a great addition to the Tampa, FL band. Always welcome and appreciate your tributes to these musicians, Pete. They help us remember and thank those you provided us so much musical pleasure. Thanks for the tribute.

Wow. I saw The Outlaws perform last night in Ridgefield, WA, opening for ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Their high-energy performance proves they still know how to engage a crowd after all these years. Thanks for sharing this fine tribute, Pete!

Sorry to hear about Freddie Salem of the Outlaws, the Chambers Brothers many other bands touring and session projects passing away most of the original and notable latter members have passed away in recent years and Outlaws were one of my favorite southern style rock bands next to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, the Allman Brothers Band among others R.I.P.🎶🎶 🎶🎤🎸🎸🎹🥁🎶

Thanks to a fine tribute Pete To Freddie Salem. Yep those great Outlaws albums. I would see him then in The Outlaws in 79 as he was a part of the band opening band The Godz.. Saw Outlaws in 76 before that time opening along with STARZ for headliner Lynyrd Skynyrd . Great memories. Freddie RIP. The Outlaws a newer band these days with one original member left in the great Henry Paul in the band while another original member David Dix on drums got replaced and with today Mike Bailey on drums. Footage of live looks like and seem they can manage to deliver. It's all a matter of your perspective and whether you still enjoy a band in what they come along with.

In a place you only dream of Where your soul is always free Silver stages, golden curtains Filled my head, plain as can be As a rainbow grew around the sun All my stars of love who died Came from somewhere beyond the scene you see These lovely people played just for me Now if I let you see this place Where stories all ring true Will you let me past your face To see what's really you It's not for me I ask these questions As though I were a king For you have to love, believe and feel Before the burst of tambourines take you there Green grass and high tides forever Castles of stone souls and glory Lost faces say we adore you As kings and queens bow and play for you Those who don't believe me Find your souls and set them free Those who do, believe and love This time will be your key Time and time again I've thanked them For a piece of mind They helped me find myself Amongst the music and the rhyme That enchants you there Green grass and high tides forever Castles of stone souls and glory Lost faces say we adore you As kings and queens bow and play for you Yeah, they play just for you RIP Freddie Salem

Early 80’s a house band I ran sound and lights for in TN warmed up an Outlaws gig at the club. It was decided that we would just switch out boards on the PA for their set. Before they played, they had their guy pull all the color gels from our lighting. They didn’t need anything fancy, just light and a stage. They kicked ass and it was quite an education. RIP Freddy.

RIP Freddie Salem ! Great eulogy Pete. Your spot on knowledge of the Outlaws is very appreciated. Yeah Freddie made them rock a bit more but I love all the albums you mentioned. Sadly, another massive talent gone. And I had NO idea he was a session man for Streisand & Natalie Cole. Wow! May he rest in peace

Oh man, sad news. I enjoyed his playing in The Outlaws. I even have his Epic Records solo album. The Outlaws - "Eye Of The Storm" sometimes gets slagged, for me it's one of their finest.

A very sad loss. I am a big fan of the Outlaws. I remember Freddie Salem and the Wildcats and have their album "Cat Dance." Good album! I also have an album by the Godz entitled "Mongolians" that Freddie played on and he is listed as a member of this band on this album. .
@richardmay815323 сағат бұрын
People neglect the two albums Freddie Salem did with The Godz. In Europe there was I'll Get You Rockin'. In America, some songs were replaced from "Rockin'" to come up with the "Mongolians" album. Those are the albums I have with Freddie Salem playing on them.

Are you from Columbus by chance, it seems I saw Freddie play with Rosie at the Alrosa Villa, but a very long time ago, it could have been The Godz.Yes the place where Dime Bag Darrell was killed.
@RobbyBobcat23 сағат бұрын
@@bradb3248 yes originally from Columbus. When The Godz hit the stage my friends and I were in high school. They were big in Ohio and opened up for many touring rock bands. I saw the Outlaws play Columbus in 1978. I think Freddie was with them then. He was from Akron and thats where Eric Moore lived until he passed away in 2019. His best friend took his place in the band when original guitarist Mark Chatfield resurrected the band a couple of years ago. Mark has been a touring guitarist for Bob Seger and now Grand Funk. Don Brewer GFR drummer produced their first album. RIP Freddie. You can hear him on Mongolians as he wrote , played and produced that record.

@@RobbyBobcat Didn’t know Freddie was from Akron, heard Eric Moore was a pretty wild guy. I’m sure I was at the Outlaws show, probably at Veterans Memorial Auditorium, torn down and put up an actual Veterans Memorial Museum. Saw The Godz in 78 opening for BOC at The Fairgrounds Coliseum, great show.

Wow. I just saw The Outlaws open up for ZZ & Skynyrd last night. Henry was the only original member but they still sounded good. Short set list I think 6 maybe 7 songs. Probably because ZZ & Skynyrd had full sets. Freddie’s Hope You Don’t Mind on Bring It Back Alive is pretty rocking!🎸
