Can there be a new rule for you tube to not use robot voices, and post pics of the biography that are actually from the same year, or period they are narrating about? A pic of Gilmour from 2023 while speaking of '68' is annoying. That rule should apply to all of them, and all biographies. Show photos from the year you're robot voice is narrating about. I totally agree with most of the other comments here: Watching this video was a waste of time. No "breaking news", however anounced. I heared nothing new. You only state this to draw attention When you tell about the early years, you show pictures from when Roger and David were much older. Your photos and film fragments do not at all support your story line. And you show the same over and over again (while there's enough out there). You totally ignore the input from Richard Wrigth during the early years (only briefly at the end of your video). What's with the disclamer that your video is not factual however it's build like a documentary? Please don't waste my time anymore. Goodbye.

Really - Did Gilmour REALY keep PF 'alive' ??? Pink Floyd ceased to be - when Waters exited the band - All that came after, was a sad facsimile of what was the band that had put the 'P' in Progressive Rock... And what is Gilmour now - what does he represent? He's supports the NAZI regime in Kiev - and thus on the WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY. I used to love Gilmour - respected and honoured him - now I think he's just a boring wanker who made his millions on the coat-tails of the once great band - Pink Floyd.

Do you really believe that? Floyd were still great after Waters left but they never reached the heights they had in the 70s. Nor did Roger. Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall are recognised, rightly as amongst the very greatest albums ever recorded, in all of music history! Add in classics like Meddle and Animals and it's clear that this was their golden period. To say that Floyd got better after this period is simply untrue. They still had great moments but never touched those heights again.

No mention is made of the fact that after Roger left the band, the remaining members -- led by Gilmour -- hired outside songwriters to write music for them that would sound 'Pink Floydian'; in other words, the soul of the music, which Roger Waters brought to the best PF albums after Syd drifted away into madness, was wholly gone, and the band had to go on without that anchor. I never bothered buying any PF albums after THE FINAL CUT -- which I've always considered an underrated masterpiece, no matter how much Gilmour denigrates it. Roger's solo works are not quite as good as his Pink Floyd-era works, because David DID supply a guitar sound that one could call the 'heart' of the band's sound, and one misses it's presence backing up Roger's lyrical genius and melodies. Dave Gilmour's guitar and singing voice have always been magnificent, but the Post-Waters PF era songs don't have the lyrical genius that Waters brought to the mix, nor the thematic artistry that made those classic albums the best 'concept' albums in Rock history.

Clickbait. Thank you to commenters below for the info. Short version: He believed Pink Floyd had become too driven by lyrics under Waters' leadership, and attempted to "restore the balance" of music and lyrics. From WikiP: In 1985, Waters declared that Pink Floyd were "a spent force creatively" and attempted to dissolve the band. Gilmour and Mason announced that they intended to continue without him. Waters resigned in 1987, leaving Gilmour as the band leader.[38] In 1986, Gilmour purchased the houseboat Astoria, moored it on the River Thames near Hampton Court and transformed it into a recording studio.[39] He produced the Pink Floyd studio album A Momentary Lapse of Reason in 1987, with contributions from Mason and Wright.[30] He believed Pink Floyd had become too driven by lyrics under Waters' leadership, and attempted to "restore the balance" of music and lyrics.

Roger Waters destroyed the band ??? May I remind David that his best guitar solos were created WITH Roger Waters in the band. When he got the name Pink Floyd after Roger left he made two musical disasters of records , they sounded more like his boring previous solo work with the David Gilmour band. To label them Pink Floyd is only laughable. He was only in it for the money if you ask me. And know he is kicking Roger for no reason if you ask me. How low can you get.

A very interesting video, thank you for your research. BUT you repeat so many facts , it becomes tiresome. Itis as if you want to stretch out the time of the video. Make your video concise, clear and without the chatter. Thank You. And thank you to creative musicians like the Floyd, rock on....

If i'd have read the comments i might not have wasted nearly 2 minutes of my time clicking through the video and realising it was useless clickbait. Thanks KZbin.

Interesting, but there was a curious redundancy in your coverage of The Wall and The Final Cut.

I'm not sure I understand how the title fits to content of this video, very familiar to Pink Floyd fans. Gilmour had explained why a long time ago. A glaring omission is that of Rick Wright who crafted the mood and atmosphere of anything the other band members did. The real work was between Gilmour and Wright, with Waters writing lyrics. All of this has been visited for many years already. I'm going to be careful not to click on video titles that sound catchy from now on 😁

Waters left in the belief that the other band members would rush to call him back on their bare knees, please please Roger come back. This did not happen. Always dangerous, such a "va banque"-stance: you can win all or loose all.

It's kind of repetitive and sows the seeds of boredom! Though there was some information that I hadn't known the repetitious aspects are because other pertinent information is lacking! This video doesn't need to be this long!

Whoever was responsible for this needs an editor... badly... 30 minutes of repetition that could have been presented in five....I've seen high school students produce better content.... total garbage.

this film is apparently bias - aims to represent Gilmour as an as key member of PF as Waters. Meanwhile the fact is fact - after leaving Syd Barrett thanks to Waters PF revived and got worldwide fame, but after departure of Waters it never issued something similar to previous albums. 2 albums issued were just pale shadows of iconic preceders. Of course, even without Waters PF's worldwide tours had huge commercial success. But just because it was the band which became a legend thanks to Barrett and Waters

Roger Waters always was the greatest influence in the band ever since Syd Barret left ... (and even when the latter was still present ...) Roger Waters and Richard Wright were also already in conflict since the early days of Pink Floyd btw ... and the conflict had already started in the early to mid 1970s ... a verse in Brain Damage (DSOTM, 1973) goes like this: And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
