To the best of my knowledge Aidan Trimble Sensei was the first SKIF world champion beating Kasuya Sensei in the quarter final.

I was personally in that exhibition that took place in Alberca Olimpica Gym ( Mexico City), my friend was hit with the ushiro-geri seriously, the sound of his face kick was heard all around the place, my friend took more blows at the end almost his nose was broken. I remember how I felt myself to see how this man H.Kasuya takes great advantage in a demonstration. He split himself from a great master as it is H.Kanazawa. Kasuya has made its own organization which as not grow up, this man needs to produce income from Karate and has not made any, any technical contribution to Karate-Do. Luis Fernàndez

Correct! Aidan Trimble won Gold in kumite at the 1st SKIF World Championship in 1983. I was there competing at Yoyogi stadium. He was so fast & strong that the Japanese (the rest of us too), had no answer to his range of wonderful kicks, punches and strikes. The Japanese judges tried their best to rob him by not seeing points that were clearly scoring. Eventually - Japan's Sugimoto - looked so battered and exhausted that the judges awarded Trimble the championship. He really was outstanding.
