Millbrae BART station opened in June 2003, literally 6 months before I was even born!

Why did they had to retire them in the first place?? The ones build in 1972 were in much better shape than the C Cars build in 1987!

Parts become obsolete after a period of time, maintenance costs to maintain old equipment become more expensive over time. Think of an old car you’re maintaining. Same concept, sometimes its harder to get replacement parts.

The Legacy Fleet’s technology was very out of date. The cars had no air conditioning. They became prone to breakdowns and delays in their later years of service. And even in human years, 52 years of life is not young!
