How can I ever get enough of this music?! I feel so close to my parents whenever I listen to this music - they died too young, before age 60, due to the ravages of WWII. I've outlived them...but through this music they live again, dancing together in their USMC "Greens" in the mist of early morning.

I listened to Glenn Miller of 78rpm records. When I got a job in Texas at the Fairmont Hotel, Jerry Grey was the band leader and he had been an arranger for "The Glenn Miller Orchestra". When they went to Europe Jerry stayed in England.

Bal to náš boj

This is wonderful! I know Dad had a multi album of the entire works of Glenn Miller. I thought it was 5 or 6 albums, but this may be it. Listening to it now brings back fond memories of days gone by. For those of us not from that era, it would be nice to have song titles up, but I'm happy just to hear it all again. Thank you for posting this.

More and more material still turns up even after three-fourths of a century. The total number of recordings would probably now take up hundreds of CDs or gigs of drives. It's just amazing, and a supreme tribute to a supreme band.

Does anyone know of a album that is a tribute to Glenn Miller that there is a narrator / orchestra leader is talking on the album about Glenn Miller being lost over the English Channel and how Little Brown Jug was not Glenn Millers favorite. I used to listen to that record when I was a kid.. Does anyone know the name or have a picture of the album. Thanks for your help.. Carl
@Poisson41474 жыл бұрын
It’s likely to be an album taken from the soundtrack of the movie _The Glenn Miller Story_ which starred Jimmy Stewart as Glenn and June Allyson as Helen. The movie's famous for its recreation of "the Miller Sound" and depiction of their marriage. However it’s also infamous for the huge number of historical liberties it took, including outright fabrications, many of which are now thought to be true by people unfamiliar with his actual life story. The movie's "Little Brown Jug" arc is probably the most notorious because *not one bit of it's true.* (Well the song actually existed ...) Anyway, he _never_ hated the song - in fact it was one of his first hits and was released in early 1939. He played it many times with both his civilian and AAF orchestras.
