●Hello everyone, this time we will be taking you on a trip to the national treasure "Matsue Castle" located in Tonomachi, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. Yoshiharu Horio, the founder of Matsue, served Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu, and achieved military exploits at the Battle of Sekigahara. Starting from 1607, Matsue Castle was built in 1611, taking five years to complete.
●Matsue Castle is one of only 12 remaining castle towers in Japan.
The existing Matsue Castle castle tower was built in the Edo period or before, and is a special existence that remains unbroken to this day.Among them, the Matsue Castle tower, completed in 1996, is one of the most famous castle towers in Japan, along with Matsumoto Castle, Inuyama Castle, Hikone Castle, and Himeji Castle. As a main tower that represents the heyday of early modern castles, it has been designated as a national treasure and an important cultural property.
