Blondie in China

Күн бұрын

7/11 in every country is a little different, and China definitely has some interesting items... I wanted to share some of the wackier ones with you! Some were good. Some were not so good. But all were very different to what I can find in 7/11 back home in Australia!!! So all in all, a very cultural experience :P

Okay I feel like I need to defend the 'fake meat sausages' here. It's made with real meat, probably thinly minced and mixed with additives and potentially starch. Kinda like the spam in western countries. Very good vids! Keep up the good work Amy.

getting the right types of breads caused me all sorts of problem when I worked in China. I had to get white bread from a French supermarket to use in working out the setting for a conveyor toaster. We had a marvelous day making toast and eating it with Vegemite! Also when I got a bagel toaster I couldn't find any anywhere but fortunately the chef at the Four Seasons hotel knew how to make them. I eventually made my own bread but wasn't about to tackle a bagel!

when I visited last year, 1st day I survived on my Indian snacks I carried along, 2nd day onwards I started exploring the veg food and stores like 7Eleven were life saver where you could find 🍞 slices, chowmin and Lays to survive on. Tofu and other fried veggies were great at most outlets. But China is certainly worth visiting atleast for a month ever year 🤭🤭

Hi! I'm a Texan new to living in China as a teacher and just wanted to say thank you for your videos, they are so fun and helpful for learning about the culture here and give me ideas about places to travel and things I want to try! Some of these snacks I've tried, but a lot I haven't, so thanks again for the reviews/suggestions. I'll definitely have to grab that jasmine tea next time I'm in a store. My current favorite is the bottled jasmine and grapefruit tea, but an unsweetened option would be really nice!

Just found your channel and subbed! I am a First Generation Chinese in the US (parents are from a village in Guangdong) and had to say I love your honesty and personality. And please don’t feel that you are being offensive just because something is not your cup of tea, you are just being honest. My husband is Caucasian and the first time I gave him a Moy (salted plum), he about gagged, said that it tasted horrible and I had to stifle a giggle. NOW, he likes them, especially when I give it to him when he has a sore throat. Keep up the great work and content!

Then I researched and finally realized, it was acquired by the Japanese many years ago. Had no idea it was a Japanese biz. Interesting stuff.
