Saw it when McKinnon reviewed it, but he showed the product's flaw--by that I mean, the clanking sound it makes when the legs slam against each other. It's an audible noise. So if you're filming at the time you open or close the legs, it will capture that sound which is extremely distracting. Hopefully they will fix it somehow by adding some padding. Also, a head is definitely required, so that's an additional expense. It's limited functionality due to its lack of flexibility will make me stick with the Joby.

Need to keep these reviews balanced. Yes, there are absolute benefits here, but major sacrifices to get them. It looks lightweight (although weight wasn't mentioned) and the compactness is a benefit. Being a tripod isn't new but the speed at which it opens is an improvement. The height seems to be good as well. The shape gives good extension which is also a nice benefit. Is it plastic or is it metal. It looks a little fragile. Appears to be nearly useless on more than slightly uneven surfaces, which is a BIG feature for most Outdoor Vloggers. Estimated delivery time is around 7 months away and as far as I can see, there is no real pricing incentive for sponsoring it. In Cdn it's around $91. Fortunately for Pat and Co., it has already far exceeded it's target funding so it will likely be out in the wild in the fall, which is definitely a good thing as it appears plenty of people want it. Send me a Free one too and I'll give you a full review. Looks like Peter McKinnon got on comped as well and, based on the Title he's signing it's praises too.

I agree, looks like a nice product. 100% agree with the gorilla pod, too bulky for vlogging yourself and too heavy. I’m trying to get a setup to be light as possible for my 70D. I’m definitely going to be looking into this.

The downside to a gorillapod is that its not as ridged. The legs get worn out over time and fall apart. The switchpod is metal so it will never bend or break

@@EMBEVIDEO I'm on my 3rd gorillapod. For me the legs get weak and the balls pop out. Like I said in the video a gorillapod makes sense if you hook it to things but if you're just vlogging and setting the camera down then the switchpod is the way to go.

Not sure this is worth $99. With the tripod angled away from the center it seems it would stain your arm way more...did you notice that or not? Also, that angle when you set it down wither ball head back and up looked VERY percarious. Lastly, it's more $$ than the JOBY GorillaPod 5K Stand which is $89, assuming you don't want to join the Kickstarter and get it for $20 off it's retail of $99. I also use a gimbal myself so the advantages of the Gorillapod over this are to great I think.

You can hear it in the background as he’s demonstrating it, it’s not that bad, not sure what everyone’s banging on about. If it’s that much of a bother, just stop filming before you open it and place it in position, easy! With the ball mount it looks like it’d be near perfect for vloggers.

if you're lucky. Like all kickstarters, few get out on time, many have delays. I would always count on a delay of some sort.

We've set August as our planned, realistic shipping date that we are confident we can meet. We didn't want to set an overly aggressive ship date and then be just another Kickstarter campaign that fails to deliver on time. I from 🇨🇦 Canada. I have the 5K Gorillapod kit before it was even called the 5K. Gorillapod are useless in really ⛄❄️ cold weather. The legs doesn't hold still and loose. In normal weather it works fine.

I bought the Joby 5K ballhead with my Switchpod but I can't get it to screw onto to the top of the Switchpod. It seems like the screw is either not long enough or right size. Any insights?

You need a 1/4"-20 Female to 3/8"-16 Male Screw Adapter. These are super cheap but allows you to adapt the joby to the switchpod

Depends on how much you use the bendy legs. I personally rarely bend the legs around objects so for me its a no brainer. The Switchpod is so easy to use

I've seen others review the Switchpod and the general consensus is that the Joby style device was the worst and showed how difficult it was to use and on and on and on. lol I am not a rep for the the felixaeble tripods that most vloggers and film creators used before this new design has recently came out. So hey things are always changing and for the most part improved so why waste time talking about how bad you thought the old way was and just focus on the future and embrace change. Ok, thats my 2 cents.

I have never understood why vloggers use the joby pod, it is so useless! The one you are reviewing is a bit better but still not addressing the technical challenges of a vlogger. What if you are in uneven ground? The legs in this new one don't extend. What if the vlogger wants to alternate between walking and then having the camera stationary on a tripod at head height? There is nothing on the market, no one who really has grasped the technical and user requirements. Same with rucksacks, it's hard to find a rucksack that has been made with waterproof material, this is bizarre!
