The Lyman media is good, I use it in my vibratory cleaner for cartridge casings. Put a cap of brass in about 4# of it. And it shines brass wonderfully!

Is that rough finish on the front panel because there's still the protective sheet of poly film covering it?
@davidpriestley32683 жыл бұрын
Just a guess but entina. Eternal or forever - permanently on. Are you sure there isn’t one of those protective films to peel off on the front panel. They can be hard to see.
@mbraun7773 жыл бұрын
Check to see if there is a protective film on the front face. Sometimes these are applied so well that it's hard to tell there is one.

Sometimes the manufacturer doesn't notice there's one too -- before applying their silkscreen labels.

Hi Keith, it is difficult to see in the video but I would be very careful with that mains adaptor as it does not look like that it complies with British Standards. The earth pin should not be shrouded like the line and neutral. Make sure it is fused and fit a known good branded fuse. Compare the pin size and spacing with a known good BS1363 plug top. Beware of Chinese electrics.

Great little machines when you get a good one. I got one a few years back and during the first operation the lid cracked. The seller tried to get me a replacement lid, then a drum and finally decided he couldn't so refunded me the full amount and let me keep the machine. So I bought myself some 10mm thick Polly carbonate, turned myself a couple of lids and has been working great ever since. Bargain! I use it to clean up some of my 'less important' metal detecting finds. One thing I would recommend, if you are going to use any liquid in it, it might be worth fitting a silicon O ring as the standard ones are a bit on the hard side and require a fair bit of pressure to make a foot seal. Which may put excessive stress on the lid and cause it to crack.

Did the instructions mention anything about adding some water & soap? Lost in translation? Huge Professional Polishers use Ceramic Cones & Soapy Water. They remove the metal items using magnets. You might want to wear Ear Plugs, due to the noise.

Eternal?
@fliedaway3 жыл бұрын
Just a guess, eternity. A mountain 50 miles high with a base 50 miles wide is visited once every 1000 years by a small bird, the bird sharpens it's beak and flies away. After eons of years the mountain is gradually worn to nothing by the bird's beak, only then has the first day of eternity has passed.

I wonder why you didnt build it yourself? Its a easy job if you have a lathe.Here is idea for some parts: Motor -windshield wiper motor from a truck -junkyard.Car battery charger to run it and a cheap PWM DC speed controler (you can also make those easy if you have needed parts) from amazon or ebay. Printers have interesting wheels that pull in paper that can be used as drive wheels-junkyard.Thumbler base made of plywood,drilled holes for bearings with undersized fostner bit (cheap one ofc ,shim it with beer can aluminum ).Some bearings-size same as axles on printer wheel. For a bucket you can use many things like plastic sewer pipe with endcaps.Or if you want a large one you can use a pesticide pressure bottle -those have thick plastic.You Just need to cut it and make a plywood ring that will go over it ,then make few holes holes and vola you got the flange.Inside of it you can put plastic pipe cut in half 5 -6 halfs screwd in with a wood screw to a plastic canister to make those bearings jump.Oh and you need 1 big flat belt to connect a motor and put it over the bucket to drive it ,1 hinge and 1 spring to keep it tensioned-or a screw to pull motor down. All of this you can make with low equipment like drill press and hack saw/angle grinder and a screw driver in 1-2 days. Judging by your age it would outlive you 2 times :) Some things arent just worthy buying from china.

@@keithappleton I use the same exact tumbler to wet tumble pistol brass and you're right the seal is pretty good. I was worried about the dust when you open it but I guess that if you do it outside it's ok.

To be honest I think that buying this Chinese stuff is a complete lottery. Price doesn't seem to be a measure of quality. Its driven me up the wall in the past with stuff failing after 5 minutes or being total crap out of the box. I just wish we could buy something made in Britain these days. Rather than shelling out £140 you could have made one as a nice little side project. I made one back in the day when we were allowed to play with pistols to tumble the cartridges.
