Great example of guide with limited ability in the opening scene. When forced to raft I always want to get in this hole for some play time.

Glad you enjoyed it! I could have added more commentary to put this into better context but wanted to let other guides to have part of the conversation too.

Yes the safety eddy of Broken Nose is often the scene of chaos and mayhem.

Back in mid June My guide sent us in sideways and I was front right and my brother fell into me from the left and helped finish me off head over heals head first backwards into broken nose. I ended up having to get pulled into a different raft down river a ways. 😂

After watching this it makes me happy I run the Ottawa in Quebec. No places to get hung like that. Hard work for your crews. What's that rated a easy 3?

According to American Whitewater this rapid Broken Nose on the Middle Ocoee River is a Southeastern benchmark class III+. It is technical and some lines are narrow compared to big water elsewhere. Normal follow is just 1250 cfs so margins of error are narrow.

@@FastFredRuddock ah. Where i work the Ottawa was running at 18800 cfs. This is a normal level for this time of year. A week ago we where at 34000. That level is high level normal. It can get up to 100000 and over. Big pissy river. I do like your videos. Been watching a bit. For me it's about the carnage.

What's the water temp this time of year? Looks pretty warm based on the amount of time they're in the water and lack of clothing.
@FastFredRuddock3 жыл бұрын
The water temp is about 70. It is very nice.

Are the ww kayakers annoyed by all the rafting congestion? 🤷♀️🚣🏻♂️

No, the kids were having a great day but their camp counselors needed to provide better instructions and guidance. I honestly believe the counselors were also lacking some guidance too. I had a friendly chat with them and gave them some tips for better times and safety on the Ocoee River in the future. The kids were stoked and appreciated the inside scoop.

I am experimenting with a new camera and shotgun mic... there might be a learning curve and I may buy another mic too...
