How do you get through the hours and hours of studying? Like how do you keep from going mentally insane from looking at a textbook all day?
@TheRedTech988 жыл бұрын
Trust me, if you're interested in the subject/course/career you will not mind studying all day. In fact, many people find it fun to study.
@azizyesilkaya46508 жыл бұрын
to be honest, I really didn't want to be a doctor so I didn't have any interest and my first years I was just going insane. But slowly I started to like it and this is the fact. I'm starting my 6th year in a few days. You'll get used to studying even if you dont like cause you have to study. So by studying, you get used to studying.
@zainabfaiz49308 жыл бұрын
+TheRedTech98 like me! I can literally study all day any subject even the subject i hate and wanna kill it with my bare hands!! Plus many people get sleepy looking at a text book while I get more awake while I am doing it but the only thing taking me away is my own determination.

@@kiwedinikwe1087 That is the book that got me thinking about med school again. I believe in the power of food. I basically have to do a complete refresh in school though. :\ I have about 4 or 5 years of post secondary with some not so good grades (but a couple years with above 3 gpa) but would need to basically need to start from square one. Been outta school for 3 years and at 27, looking at another 13-15 years to the end of residency if I am able to get there. I am cool with that

You are my idol. I started my freshman year of college away from home in the fall of 2015. After one semester I decided I hated being away from home, and was unsure of my future, so I packed up my stuff and quit. Now its about two years later and I'm just now ready to go back to college. Ive always secretly played around with the idea of being a doctor, and over these last couple months its been really sticking with me. Although I am not 100% sure I want to pursue a career in medicine, I definitely think it is a good possibility. Being out of school for a while has made me a bit hesitant to go back, and also makes me doubt my abilities even though I know that I am intelligent. I found your channel about a year ago and it has been breath of fresh air. I just watched your video about your journey from high school to med school and it made me open my eyes because you said you had struggled a bit in school... and look at you know. You're becoming a doctor. You are such an inspiration. I remember in that video you mentioned that you didn't have an initial plan of what you wanted to do for a career. I was undecided about what I wanted to do for so long, and it makes me confident to hear that you started off confused and unclear about your future path too. I hope you accomplish everything you ever dreamed of. I hope I can too! Best of luck!!!

funny thing is I used my weekend to catch up on sleep I missed through the week doing homework and reading. I didn't even get up till 10 or 11am. Then did my groceries, did my laundry, listened to music, watched a movie. When exams were close by I used to study regularly but when I went to the exam I realised the questions were not even remotely based on what we studied or the reference books we were given to study. And in 5th year realised that the practical aspects and guidelines differed from hospital to hospital and doctor to doctor. Went around so many tutors for help with difficult mcqs and each tutor had a different answer. None of the tutors actually were ever involved with the exam process so they couldn't give us any tips. Difficult life that was. It took me like a whole year to realise that learning from the book and the countless number of cases in hospital never helped during the exam. The exam usually asked rare things about diseases you would never come across. The exams were just made so hard to increase the rank of the school. So some students used past papers from seniors (which was strictly prohibited in our uni) and unfortunately I couldn't get them coz I hardly knew the cheating crowd. I wish someone told me about the inside tricks. Would have made my life so much easier.
