It's really good to see such high quality footage of such an accessible route. Usually it's always routes beyond the grade capability of 98% of people. This is wonderfully shot. Chapeau.

It’s it weird how there’s more footage out there of people climbing E8 than there is VS?! That was our major influence for making this series: to publish something that’s relevant and relatable to the majority.

@@ukclimbingofficial Yes! Really enjoying this and looking forward to more - building up the psyche reserves in the hopes of making my trad debut happen in 2025...
@eoingleeson3732Ай бұрын
Whole heartedly agree with this. Most people will never climb an E grade. Deffo needs to be more of these high quality videos on lower graded routes

You don’t realise how heartening it is to hear this feedback - thanks so much 🙏

Yeah I would echo this, this is exactly the type of content I want to see on UKC. I think you found your niche for me and would love to see more of this on an ongoing basis. The vast majority of climbing content is stuff that is so inaccessible for virtually everyone outside of the elite climbers. This is much more relatable. Great job!

Love it - well done Rob. Beautifully filmed too.

Love this series of vids. Climbs that I remember doing back in the day. While I enjoy watching the pros this means more to us mere mortals

Excellent video and superb climb, just what we need in the middle of winter, to keep us all inspired. 😍

Nicely done Ro,b kind of a blast from the past!

I’m trying to remember the first tour I had of the slate quarries and whether or not you would have been there, but it was so long ago I can’t remember 🤣

Such an excellent route, it’s been too long since I last climbed on slate
@ukclimbingofficialАй бұрын
I was trying to think of the last time I was on slate before we filmed this, must be 8 years at least. Great to be back on it though, such a unique medium.

that sling placement scares me @3:12
@ukclimbingofficialАй бұрын
Funnily enough, watching that back it looks a LOT worse than it is. Even I - the person who placed it - was thinking “what on earth is that idiot doing?!?” 🤣

Seriously! Thought why is this guy clipping onto his office employee lanyard?
@ukclimbingofficialАй бұрын
this particular office lanyard is rated to hold over 2 tonnes…

Surely Seamstress is so well protected with nuts it doesn't need a dodgy sling placement?

This and Seams the Same are on my wish list. I just need to work on climbing some easier slate, I've not yet done any climbing on slate, and a few more VS's before I attempt this one.

If you ever fancy getting some mileage on slate within the lead-up then there’s a whole load of sport routes which provide a good introduction to the rock type without having to worry about the gear.

Why have I still never climbed on the slate... I need to head down and for once not get distracted by the lifetime of other climbing in the area 😅

Watch what you wish for John, otherwise we’ll have you on some runout slab with a camera staring right at you 🤣
