True, not a classic vampire but definitely vampiric. It appears to feed on creatures directly for sustenance in its hibernation cycle, but primarily feeds on human suffering as some sort of emotional vampire like that character in What We Do in Shadows. Like vampires, it takes a familiar. And vampires shapeshift, though I've never seen that set up as requiring having blooded the reference. But to your point, it doesn't create others like itself, and it seems more an ancient mutation or offshoot rather a than supernatural being.

Yep, you heard that right, driving with a beard. I lost my license for this very thing. Well, actually, lost my license for failure to appear on the charge of driving with a beard. The worst part? It was all bullshit, the cop that pulled me had no idea that I had a beard as I had dropped said beard on the floorboard several miles before the stop. He pulled me on a trumped-up charge and just happened to be right, unbeknownst to him. The moral of my story? If you're driving, leave the beard at home. It just ain't worth the risk.

This would be a pretty interesting story if it was actually revealed that it wasn't actually a demon and was instead some unknown pathogen that spreads like rabies but via touch and would cause symptoms in the victims but also had lesser symptoms depending on immunity or resistance of confusing faces and thinking certain people look identical. In an extra scene show that everyone was infected and they were just making post facto justifications for their actions to make sense of what was going on but wasn't aware they were infected themselves, and not even the audience would know until the very end. Maybe even add the twist the psychic was the one infecting others without realizing it.

Stephen King did an interview where he explained he began The Ousiders with a Vampire-like character in mind that instead of sucking blood it fed on negative emotions. He started doing research on Mexican culture and realized the character he created was El Cuco. He got the inspiration from the Edgar Allen Poe Story William Wilson. It is about the main character William Wilson with a doppelgänger. One William is good and tried to help others while the other William is evil and destroyed lives. Ultimately both die at the end.

I couldn't watch this show because of the horrible cinematography. I was about 15 whole minutes into the first episode and hadn't seen a clear shot of a single character or location and never knew who was talking. I seriously thought that Max had messed up the file or something, it was like it had been zoomed in accidentally so that when a character was shown all you would see is part of their forehead in the corner of the screen or some random-ass spot on the wall. I googled to see if it was some glitch with the streaming surface and found all these idiots gushing over how artistic the cinematography was lol. That's when I knew I wasn't going to watch a whole season of this crap, I figured there would eventually be normal shots but if they're starting it out this way and for this long, at the most important time to hook someone's attention, I knew I wouldn't be able to put up with this director. It's like something made by a film student without any talent who's trying so hard to be artsy, comparable to "artists" that do some nonsense like nail a pair of panties to a banana and get featured in a museum because the art community is enthralled by their "creativity"
