Hello, Kitchen Story subscribers!
Today, we have a special story to share with you. It’s the story of Mrs. Shin Myung-ja.
Mrs. Shin, who turned 70 last year, lived in Shindang-dong, Seoul before retiring and moving to Anyang. Turning 70 is a significant milestone in life, and Mrs. Shin had a unique experience around this time.
Many people celebrate their 70th birthday with small gatherings or family trips abroad. Mrs. Shin’s lifelong wish was to travel with her family. However, due to various circumstances, it was challenging for the whole family to travel together. In the end, Mrs. Shin decided to take a cruise trip to Southeast Asia with her sister, who she gets along with very well, using the money she got back from her second and third children.
The trip with her sister became an unforgettable memory. The beautiful sea, sunsets, and various experiences on the cruise filled Mrs. Shin's heart with joy. Although she couldn't travel with her children, Mrs. Shin resolved to live a life for herself from now on through this journey.
As you listen to this story, do any of you have similar experiences? It seems there is always a big gap between a parent's expectations from their children and the children's actions. Mrs. Shin has decided not to rely on her children and to live a life for herself moving forward.
