It takes a brave man to undertake restoration of a “basic” Interceptor (if an Interceptor can ever be described as such) but tackling a bent FF……this man deserves a medal!

What a beauty, great job bringing it back from deaths door. Bloody love Slotmags too Will, great looking wheel that suit a lot of cars. Owned a bunch of Capri's and never knew there was a FF one, so cheers for that, gonna go look that up. Take it easy chaps, still really glad you're back 🤘🍺 Edit: so they made a mk2 3.6 Olds v8 Capri FF, side pipes, slotmags and a very 70s paint job, it sold at auction 2 years ago for about 7.5k. 😍

I refer the system as all wheel drive because it's always working but four wheel drive is when on normal roads most 4X4 of road vehicles are in 2 wheel drive and when they go off road the driver can engage four wheel drive l suppose you could call the part time four wheel drive and the Jensen FF is the first

this was my dream car, the first time i seen it was in the AA book of the car back in the 70s.

Great story, Kieron’s bidding story is hilarious 😂. Fantastic restoration the paint is superb. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the Ferguson Formula was used alongside 3 spd auto in early Range Rovers before LR introduced factory autos.
@kieronmaughan69402 ай бұрын
Yes it was called a Schuler Range Rover, which were the first luxury automatic 4x4, ABS, air con, electric windows, big sound systems, better trim etc, Led Zeppelin had one..BL didn't think a luxury Range Rover would catch on, but looking at Shuler's success copied the concept in 1981 with the InVogue, and the rest is history.. called the Invogue as it was IN Vogue magazine! 🙂 Schuler were sold to Overfinch in 1984
@57northphoto322 ай бұрын
@@kieronmaughan6940 Thank you, “Schuler” that’s the name I forgot until I got on google and found one for sale, had the magic Automatic FF badge on the back even looked like a runner but a serious resto. Back in the day an Overfinch was a serious Range Rover but sadly nowadays it seems to be a name on a vehicle that calls itself a Range Rover 😔👍🏻.

Ah, maxaret units. Played with them numerous times in the past (on aircraft). There was a prototype 4 wheel drive Scimitar that may have used the Fergusen system.
@wabwee602 ай бұрын
Interesting story, thanks for posting. Three, well intentioned, observations: The audio requires improvement. The front quarter bumpers require elevating slightly at each corner to alleviate the apparent droop. From memory, the Maxaret braking system was actually designed/produced by Dunlop, initially for aircraft landing gear, not Lockheed.
@kieronmaughan69402 ай бұрын
the bumpers so need adjustment, but we need to drop them slightly in the middle.. thats a winter 2024 job
@ppcmagazine2 ай бұрын
Yeah, fair comment on the audio. Had a hardware failure it turned out which slightly compromised things as you could hear 🤦

Absolutely love the Interceptor and the FF, a much under rated car - compared to similar vehicles of its day. On another note, I was clearing some cupboards the other day and found a stash of the old PPC mags. One of them was the £999 Challenge. Some of the cars in it... lots of manual Turbo Supras etc for peanuts. If you guys ever get back to that sort of thing, please do publicise it - I'll be in the queue to join in!!!
@ppcmagazine2 ай бұрын
Oh we'd love to do that again one day. Let's see...!

@@ppcmagazine I think these days the budget would need to be a bit higher, or a lower calibre of cars. I organised a £1000 car challenge for some friends. It wasn't easy to find anything in the budget, and some people dropped out, but we ended up with a fairly mint Rover 620SLi, a Fiat X1/9 and a Fiesta with a 1.7 Puma engine in it.
