Fantastic! I'd figure some sub-ten seconds from zero to sixty? Would be nice to see the faces of all other motorists if you'd be blasting past at 100+ mph while still be in control of the car. As a Citrophile I'd say I want one!

Great to see Dave again. Absolute top bloke. He & Karl did so much to help my projects in the past. Still running an Emerald ECU on the Westfield and always recommended them whenever the subject comes up. A measure of Dave's patience was one occasion when I took a car to him for mapping, which he did, then he waited while I swapped the cams (which took about 3 hours IIRC as I had to remove a supercharger & plumbing first, then refit it all again...) then he re-mapped it with the other cams. That was a long day..... A different occasion, a rear tyre let go on the rollers at speed...no fuss or panic from Dave, he just slowed it down nice & safe, no harm done. He then ran me to the local tyre place with the wheel, the guy put a new valve in and off we went again. (The valve hole in the rim had a massive sharp burr on it and as the valve leaned over it eventually cut through the rubber).

First met Dave many years ago when he did an article on my nova hillclimb car for car and conversion magazine. Then fitted one of his early engine control units which improved the performance markedly. And he had helped me many times since

Excellent, I started making my own flow bench many years ago following an article in the magazine. I finished building the engine and the car years ago, never did finish the flow bench. 😂

Hes spot on about that head. I did a lot of work on the 05 S I had and it looked roughed when I pulled it off to do some work. Lots of extra casting, poor design, etc. These were made at a Chrysler plant in Brazil and I was rather shocked at the quality of the head as a "BMW" product.

Good to see Dave still at work - used to love his technical articles in Cars & Car Conversions. Into A series Mini stuff and remember the series he did building an engine with Glyn Swift of Swiftune. Was a great magazine. Brilliant video done by someone who actually knows what they are talking about. Keep up the good work Dave.

Yeah, if you have a barn door and a people door at opposite ends of the building, the rate people can get through the barn at is dependent on the size of the people door; doubling the size of the barn door makes no difference (or in a more refined model increases fuel stand-off).

David Vizard is/was a great proponent of "deshrouding" the valves within the chamber to improve flow. That head looks as if the exhaust valves would benefit from removal of some meat around the valve to help the gases to get out. I used live near Shepreth where Bill Blydenstein had his workshop, used to pass quite often. Never met him but he sounded like a great guy and a top engineer.

I wrote the calculation software for my dad’s (mezporting) superflow 110 when I was a kid in the 80’s for pocket money - that flow bench was quite a big investment for him back then. He could do a flow and graph it in a matter of minutes rather than using a calculator. Quite spooky seeing Dave talking about using plasticine to model port shapes - my dad stole my plasticine to do the very same thing! great minds…
