Picture books: Everything by Helen Oxenbury (10 little fingers etc) as board books, Inside Outside Upside Down (teaches concepts in a way both my kids got) & I Love You All Day Long (as essential reading for warming up to daycare). All Jen Campbell’s, naturally. All the Curious George (except the first original story which is unbelievably racist - the rest though are genius from a teaching point of view).

When I picked it up I enjoyed it but also wasn’t drawn to pick it up in-between hence it lurking on my currently reading for so long. By coincidence I finished The Overstory a couple of days ago too - I found it such a weird one. I loved the first section with all the back stories and little vignettes, but I found the rest of it quite... I don't know, turgid? I never really felt compelled to pick it up, and only ever read ten or so pages at a time (meaning it took *ages* to finish). I think I just wanted it all to come together in a more coherent way. I did find all the tree facts interesting, but a bit too much of a slog for me. (Congrats on your lovely news btw) x

Patricia McKillip is one of my favorite authors. The Forest in Serre, Winter Rose, Ombria in Shadow or Bards of Bone Plain are great too. (The cover artist is Kinuko Y. Craft. She actually does do other artwork.)

I also discovered Patricia A Mckillip this year and have been making my way through all her stand alone novels. Od magic is one of the few I haven't gotten to yet, but I am definitely keen to pick it up. I would recommend you check out Ombria in Shadow or The Bell at Sealey Head next :)

I read The Overstory via audio and loved it. The science of trees is even used as part of the story in Star Trek Discovery. I recommend Eileen. I still have to read My Year of Rest and Relaxation.
