I added a longer handle on the furnace yesterday, it is about 20 inches long, sticks out about as far as the burner does. so I am not so close to the hot furnace when I open it up

Okie scrapper you must have been a Blacksmith in one of your previous lives🤔. Like taking a master class in ingot making. The copper looks beautiful. I’d make a mould of a bird or something to put on your landscape. 😊

Thanks for the Tip Joseph, I will try that, I have been doing a quick switch to another tank when it freezes up, I think I have 16 20lb. bottles. I need to exchange about 4 at this time, $16.99 at the store in town.

2 tips for you to ignore if you like lol, 1 heat up your dross removal tool so that slag will not stick to it, and 2 tip you ingot out of its mold then transfer the ingot to the water, dropping the ingot into water direct from the mold can splash water onto your mold and it can break. have fun love ya vids

A bigger propane tank would be economically less expensive 😊
@Okiescrapper
@Okiescrapper Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about that. I think the bigger tanks need inspection and tested every year, the 20lb. bottles every 12 years. if the tank is out of date, I can exchange it for $16.99 for 15 lbs. of propane. if in date I can get it filled for about $18.00 I will have to check on filling price, 2 years ago I was getting them filled 20 lbs. for about $14.00 but it is so much a lb. so small tank or big tank it is the same price per lb. and when a tank need testing it gets exchanged I have about 16 20lb. tanks

Great melt video! Did you ever cut back the length on the outer flange metal you added to your waste oil burner tub? That may be causing the oil to heat up too much before it reaches the tip. Just a thought, I remember you having an issue right after that longer tube was added and that it had worked just fine before that change.

Just discovered your channel and I also live in OK. do you have a recommendation for a place to take scrap copper in or around OKC? also, what id the deal with copper grades, is bare bright the same as #1 or does it depend on the terminology of the scrap yard.
@Okiescrapper
@Okiescrapper Жыл бұрын
Welcome, glad to have you here, Al's Recycling on East 29th street pays good and good people to deal with, and Metal Check pays good also, bare bright is any copper that is nice and shiny, #1 is tubing that is clean with no solder or paint, or clean, thick wire, thicker than a pencil led. and # 2 is copper that has solder joints, or painted, if the copper has other metals attached to it, it will go as dirty copper,

Is copper tubing as pure as wire?
@joshp6061
@joshp6061 Жыл бұрын
Just slightly less pure, I believe the difference is minimum 99.9% for tubing (it’s called alloy C122) and min 99.95% for wire (ETP copper or alloy C110). Really barely any difference they’re both high purity copper
@Okiescrapper
@Okiescrapper Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that answer, Josh. I did not know that
@joshp6061
@joshp6061 Жыл бұрын
@@Okiescrapper the difference is really only that pipe/tubing copper requires a tiny % added phosphorus (a deoxidizer) unlike wire copper which requires high purity with no additives

If you were doing this in Buffalo NY right now you would be the envy of the neighborhood. Everyone would be huddling around the furnace trying to stay warm in that 77 inches of snow ! I'm glad I live in Florida.We just have hurricanes to put up with.

Here In Oklahoma, it's cold for a day or two, then warm for a few days. so, I work outside when I can, and I work in the shop when it's cold and windy. I need to clean out an area in the shop for a wood burner stove, but I do have a 220V heater that I use, it helps. Thanks for stopping by
