They are Industrial panel indicator lamps, I have quite a few of them from old panels I have retrofitted, I love them.

Thay are absolutely amazing. When i bought them, i asked the seller about their use and told me the same. It just become apparent they are used elsewhere

@@photonik-luminescence Actually I just remembered our Steam Boiler control panels still have these in, As they are Gas fired I am not insured to upgrade them, The rules about gas are quite strict here.

Hehee, may lightbulbs always be interesting on this channel 😁 p.s. I love neon lamps too!

Neon is my favourite element of the noble gases. It's similar to HPS or LPS in color (although more orange), and it just looks so beautiful. Thank alot for watching !

Ganz genau so steht's auch in dem Philips Handbuch. Herde oder alle arten vor elektronische Geräte die heizen und auch in Maschinen als Indikator Lampe.

Nice bulbs. Are these bulbs self ballasted so that they can be powered directly from the mains?

Interesting question. Unfortunately, they do not have a resistor (as indicated by the philips Manuel), but some have. The ones with resistor look similar to the non-resistor ones. The one shown has no resistor

I have a collection of several neon gas discharge lamps (over 30) manufactured as early as 1941 but I'm not motivated enough anymore to upload any videos about them..

Sounds really nice. I wish i had a neon spectral lamp as they are brighter. They are of laboratory use but i would absolutely like to have the system that drives it too. You should post about the oldest ones as they are by now true history. Thanks alot for watching

do these have a current limiting resistor inside of the base, or is one needed to be added externally? I made the mistake of putting 130 volts to a Ne5 bulb without the benefit of a resistor one time, and the result was explosive 😮

Interesting. I didn't use it but in a socket but last time i did it was fine. Indeed, all neon lights come with a little resistor. I personally couldn't find one. It's wise to add one just in case. It may be brand specific too. According to Philips, some have but some do not have resistor
