Loved this...back yrs ago I shot a lengthy series on the Duke Univ., Children's cancer center and The Ronald McDonald House. Became friends with a young girl and her mum. The poor mother's husband walked out upon learning his daughter had cancer. I began following them as the focus of the series. The little girl became the heart of the cancer unit.. on one day her friend died. But as I sat politely video taping the parents talking my little buddy came in and told them she had snuck in an hour before she went to sleep and died. She promised the parents that when she died she'd watch over their daughter. I asked the parents if I should leave that out..no they said it was the most beautiful part. I cut a special tape for the house to use in fund raising and to show others. They told me a year later it helped raise quite a bit if money. In the year my new friends fought her cancer I had started dating her mom. What a family. The daughter went to all the kids talking about how to handle chemo the shots..etc. I was able to reach out to a teddy bear maker so kids would each have a treatment bear to keep with them. Cory you deed a marvelous thing ..thanks buddy.

Several friends of mine have spent a significant amount of time at Ronald McDonald Houses. They take such good care of the whole family, which can be easily forgotten when spending time with the child that is ill. A charity well worth supporting!

This video has a lot of meaning to me. My baby bro was diagnosed with cancer when he was about 9 months old. This was about 10 years ago, and he has stayed at the Ronald McDonald House multiple times throughout that time. Also, I was born in Hamilton, ON at the McMaster Hospital :) I was premature, weighing only about 2-3 lbs, and spent the first month and a half of my life in that hospital.

Cory...when I was in TV news with CBS Sun. Morning news I did a 7 min. Feature at the Duke Univ. Medical Center Adolescent Cancer center and the Ronald McDonald House in Durham,NC. Beautiful place with ongoing support for families. Was doing a story on a cute little girl with The same cancer your Sister had. Amazing girl and mom, the dad walked out in the family when he learned of the cancer. That came from my city...Greensboro,nc. The House was so remarkable...very comfortable and always had celebrities stopping by, Athletes would come by to help out.. parents had a place to stay etc. I did an expanded video into a half hour tv presentation and gave it to them to use in fundraising. So glad you were able to do this ... your dad showed how caring he is. Wish ai'd had a family like yours, by the way Duke and Carolina joined together to save my life after I was shot in a major news story. Jim Waters

Your really going to complain about a 5 min video about a charity, that personally helped his family?
