Hope y’all enjoyed the video! Sub for more like this in the future! There’s so many angles to talk about this movie from so it gets a bit hard trying be cohesive. I think one thing I just thought to mention is how I really liked how transformation played a key central role in this story. It’s honestly one of the few that do that and again, I think it makes for a better movie and story.

Agree with you. Orion doesn't really think about the 'cost' of his actions, getting his friends in trouble. He is irresponsible. But at the same time every time he made a mistake tried to take the fall for his actions (he was trying to take the blame when Elita was fired, or after the race, when Sentinel appeared Orion told him that the whole thing was his fault) And even at his most irresposible he still did the things he did, an broke rules not for selfish gain. He was looking for info about the Matrix to give it to Sentinel (tho he could have looked to to take it for himself, and he even said it, he was trying to help) He saved Jazz, which is a totally altruistic move, he had nothing to gain, and could have even been punished for it. So he is a very interesting mixture of responsability/irresponsability/immaturity even at the start of the film. And he has a ton of moments where it was made clear early on that he was an alturistic character who helps on the people around him even if it will cause him inconvenience. (the scene where they were running from the Quintesson ship he actually lagged behind Elita and D, because he caught, and righted B after B stumbled and almost fell; Orion was the only one who was holding his hand out trying to help Alpha Trion up after the bot was awakened, and Orion was the only one who did not want to leave Alpha Trion alone to fight ith the death-seekers) Also about why D 'took it to another level' as you put it. I feel like D behaves like a cult mamber after he realized that everything was a lie, and the cult he was a true believer of opresses, uses, abuses, and takes advanatge of people. Orion did not take Sentinel's betrayal so hardly (and personally) as D did, because Orion have always believed the system was unfair, and wrong (tho he believed it was in place because of ignorance reather than malice- this is why he wanted to prove so hard that cogless bots are just as good/capable as 'real Transformers) D was a true believer.

I recognize D16 is wrong, but I love how they made you sympathize with him, additionally by having him be almost unaware of how much he idolizes power and wants the easy route. He's a stressed worker who believes he can be given better but yet directly holds himself back out of a fear of what he might lose. It's something we all can relate to in our own experiences. And as proof of how much D16's mindset is appealing, look at the response to the death of the UnitedHealthCare CEO, the assassin is becoming a hero, and the dead CEO is a mockery, because everyone knows the feeling of being treated like a wallet and nothing more, and the idea of getting revenge is so greatly appealing. This is why so many people believe D16 did nothing wrong, because this mindset is so easy to fall into in this situation. It practically predicted the future in this way, but it ignores the dangerous precedent set of killing people you don't like being okay. I love it. D16 is just brilliantly written to be relatable to your average person, and as a moral the movie teaches you that yes, that mindset is completely wrong and it is a horrible thing.

I'm glad you pointed out how Megatron was basically in the wrong by the end. Too many people take his relatability and confuse it for justification for everything he did. People call Sentinel "robot Hitler", but it was Megs who made himself the decider of his death and the one who would helm the future of Cybertron, founded on nothing but his own strength, aka, literal fascism.

@@marley7868 that’s what I was thinking; By taking matters into his own hands (literally XD), he essentially takes away the choice of everybody else by killing Sentinel. He declares it his own right to make the decision, to make changes and to lead, all WITHOUT the consent of others. Even if Sentinel Prime was to be considered the pure embodiment of evil for them, even IF deep down a lot of people wanted to see Sentinel die, even right then and there; THEIR autonomy, their choice, their independence, has been FORCIBLY STRIPPED from them by Megatron’s selfish choice to be the one to decide the fate of Sentinel, to make their own decisions. If the people could decide, no doubt that Sentinel likely would have been executed for his plethora of crimes, but at least then, not only would it formalize it, it would at least give other people the choice to make a decision. I mean hell, they probably could have even voted to have Sentinel slave away in the mines HIMSELF, without a T-COG so that HE could learn what pain and suffering he had forcibly imposed on his subjects, I have no doubt that could have been an option too if Sentinel was allowed to live long enough to face trial. But of course, that wouldn’t be enough for Megatron, he felt that he HAD to be the one to see to it that Sentinel faced his own version of “Justice.” Anyways those are just my thoughts lol

Orion Pax being an Archivist or Librarian comes mostly from the Aligned continuity and some comics. Different series have different roles for him. In G1 he was a dock worker, in the Dreamwave comics he was a cop. Here he's a miner and I think that works extremely well for the story.

Just remember, when Orion learned of what Sentinel had done, he was thinking across the entire spectrum of Sentinel crimes, on what he had done to *everyone*. But when D-16 learned, he was fixated on what Sentinel had done to *him* specifically. D-16 felt personally attacked, and that manifested as selfishness, selfishness that began to - as you said - fill the void left by everything else he believe in crumbling away.

Paramount truly failed this movie during its theatrical run in cinemas because the trailers and marketing truly did not do this fantastic movie enough justice. This movie is arguably the *BEST TRANSFORMERS MOVIE MADE* and everything from the animation, the story/world-building, the music, the action and choreography, and of course, the great voice acting truly made this my favourite movie of the year. I especially have to give praise to Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry's excellent performances as Optimus and Megatron as they really embodied both their respective characters so well and made you genuinely believe Orion and D-16's friendship and how close they were. Still, the moment the truth is revealed to them, both their perspectives have changed but in different directions. As you can understand, both of their beliefs, but the tragedy of their downfall is all the more heartbreaking. You feel how much emotional pain and anguish is in D-16's voice as Orion tries to stop him from killing Sentinel and Orion was desperately trying to save his brother from making a choice he could never come back from. I believe Orion also wanted Sentinel to be punished for his crimes, but by standing trial against Iacon and all the people who he betrayed, he would no doubt get the punishment he deserved and would've likely been imprisoned or killed, but at least it would've fair and just to the people of Cybertron he worked to death for generations. Orion could tell D was going down the same cycle of death and vengeance that Sentinel created since he, too, was resentful and hated the Primes for how they failed to end the war with the Quintessons; thus, Sentinel chose to take the cowards way out and work with the Quintessons at the cost of killing the Primes and selling out his entire race just so he could live the good life and become a deluded tyrant who will do anything to keep his lies in tact; thus D-16 becomes just like Sentinel since we see D become Megatron, betray his own brother at arms, become a ruthless twisted tyrant, create a war on Cybertron that pits its people against each other and ravages the planet until it comes a dystopian husk of a dead world. Its genuinely remarkable how this movie's origin recontextualises almost every form of Transformers media, giving audiences a deeper understanding of why Optimus and Megatron are enemies, how the Autobots and Decepticons began, what led to the Civil War on Cybertron, and so much more. We desperately need a sequel because one guy on Twitter did more promotion and sold this movie better than Paramount ever did. A story this good deserves a trilogy and regardless of the box office results the amount of overwhelming love from both critics and audiences, hopefully this influences Paramount to give this movie the sequel it deserves

I don't know if it was in purpose, but i find it interesting that Pax puts the Megatronus emblem on D16's shoulder, the same place he will wear his Autobot symbol as Prime. But eventually the Decepticon symbol makes it front and center of Megatron's chest, almost like the power that Megatronus represents is becoming the core of Megatron's identity. While Prime will wear his Autobot symbol on his shoulder, with the Matrix at his core. Showing he's more centered around the people he leads rather than some faction's ideology

One thing I loved about this film is how Sentinel Prime is a combination of his Animated and DOTM counterparts. He's got a similar color scheme to TFA Sentinel but then is also a full-on villain like in DOTM. Except here, his villainy has been cranked up to 11. I also really loved this version of Starscream. He's barely there, but he leaves an impression.

@@Achieme don’t forget Hasbro cares more about toy sales than anything else. These movies are basically big marketing schemes for toys. Box office numbers are way down for most movies these days due to the convenience of streaming and overpriced theater tickets. When they factor in people who buy the movie/rent at home, toy sales, and the box office on top of that, it could be enough to warrant a sequel. I mean they even greenlit a ROTB sequel and that movie was a box office flop too. Not to mention Paramount pictures is booming these days. I’m sure execs have seen that the movie has stellar reviews and most people blame the marketing. If they learn from their (marketing) mistakes and build off of what people actually enjoy watching, they could have some huge box office successes in the future. Michael Bay was a producer on this movie but I bet most people had no idea. If they market it competently and make sure to throw his name in there near the end I bet a sequel would make x3 the money Transformers One did on a similar budget

I think something was going on with Megatronus Prime, even tho the movie did not give us any concrete information, but hints. Every single T-cog, and Energon (which is the blood of Primus, and all the Transformers) emits blue light in TF One. Megatronus's cog is the only one which has a purple color. I would not make much of this info, but knowing that TF One took a ton of lore elements from the Aligned continuity the color choice may have significance. Originally in G1 Energon was purple/pink. The Aligned continuity chnaged the color to blue (as the blood of Primus) while they made Dark Energon (the blood of Unicron) the exact shade of purple Megatronus' cog has. So I think we know too little about TF One's Megatronus to know it for sure, but there is a chnace their is much more to his story than what we see.

I know I know, the Nostalgia overload of G1 often makes us say things like "G1 will never be dethroned!", but, it's not only ok, but good for the franchise to grow and outdo itself. i think the thing many people get wrong by saying orion is a bad friend is that they dont realize even though d tends to be very open about how he feels there are still parts of himself that he keeps buried, and that not everything people say can or should be taken at face value. especially during the race, we see d HAPPY even though he was forcibly dragged into it. he isnt that upset at the start (he wouldnt have scolded orion with a joke if he was) and that as the race progresses, he's genuinely happy to be there. orion and d are CLOSE. and orion knows that d hangs on way too tightly to the rules, and thats why he forces d into these situations. like he said. he's doing it for the BOTH of them. and i think it's because out of everyone around them, orion understands d the best. not because orion is just some selfish dude who does whatever he wants. even when d does crash out at the end of the race, even though he does blame and scold orion, the way its portrayed makes me feel that what d feels is much more complicated than just simple anger towards his friend. especially with how easily orion was able to convince d to join the quest for the matrix even after he crashes out bc they get sent to sub level 50. the scene about executing sentinel was never about sentinel, too. he gets very little screen time and basically no lines whatsoever in that scene, and i think it's 100% intentional. sentinel wasn't the point. it could have been anyone in his place. the point is that after the high guard fiasco and orion saw how much d enjoyed causing pain (some people try to say "but they were all violent" and lets be real its different. the others were quick and knew when to stop, but d was more deliberate and enjoying the harm he caused.on a personal level) orion at that point knew that startscream was d's gateway drug to a life of senseless violence, and that if he didn't stop at sentinel, he wouldn't stop at all. sentinel could have been anyone. the point is that this is someone d wanted to hurt. and if d couldn't show self restraint, that would be an issue. with great power comes great responsibility is what orion learned and d didn't. d wanted so badly to be free (yes despite him being a rule follower) that he flew like icarus into the sun. orion on the other hand, being the one to have stolen that freedom for the both of them (though he was also the one to put them in that situation by no true fault of his own), understood the restraint that must come with freedom and tried to tell d. but umtimately, all he could do was watch as his closest friend flew straight into an inferno (his anger) as a result of his own overinflated ambition and unwillingness to listen.

Id really love to see Megatron arc in a sequel to be show how far he descends into madness, tyrany and allows his hatred of Primes, including his former brother at arms Orion as a Optimus Prime. We could really see Megatron question whether this fight for his rule over Cybertron is worth all the death and destruction, however because of unfortunate circumstances and the manipulation and praise of characters like Shockwave or Starscream who act as the Iago to Megatron's Othello, where we see Starscream influence Megatron to embrace his darker side and malicious tendencies to become more of a delusional, ruthlessly tyrant who becomes more of a monster than Sentinel as Megatron depletes the planet of its resources causing Cybertron to become a barren uninhabitable wasteland all because he couldn't let his hatred for Optimus go, and we can see Starscream regret his manipulation as he never thought Megatron's hate was so volatile to cause to death of their home planet. It could really show how tragic and horrifying the downfall of D-16 was as he was once a introverted, happy bot who only had rhe love of his best friend to keep him going but now D-16 died and Megatron has layed waste to Cybertron all because of a senseless war he started and now hes just a hateful monster who too far gone. This could also be an interesting moral dilemma for Optimus as we see him attempt to reason with Megatron and try and save his friend from what hes become and even feel guilty over how he created a monster like Megatron who other Autobots or Cybertronians blame Optimus for not killing him. Optimus could struggle having to realise how unknowingly selfish he once that it led D to have a mental breakdown and become Megatron.

I think what will happen in the sequel is that the Quintassons will invade and try to harvest all of Cybertron’s energon, and the Autobots and Decepticons will have to work together to stop them. However, once the mutual threat is dealt with, Megatron will destroy the energon reserves and reservoirs so that neither the Quintassons nor Autobots can have it. Once Optimus sees that Megatron’s hatred for him is so great that he would doom the entire planet just to attack him, that’s when he realizes that there is no bridge for him to repair.

It juxtaposes how D-16 becomes Megatron, the tyrannical villain and Orion becomes Optimus, the justice seeking freedom fighter.

I think D-16 transforming into a tank is very important for his character. With his COG he would be a soldier. A tank that does massive damage, provides cover all while being a big target. D-16 was designated to protect and destroy. Sentinel lying to his face has dishonored him and took his original purpose from him. With how D-16 followed protocols to the letter would have made him a great asset to the war. He would have stood his post until ordered to retreat. All that was tossed away so Sentinel could live as a false king. D-16 snaps.

I wish soundwave and starscream switched places when arachnid captured a bunch of the high guard that scene where d-16 stands up to sentinel was a great way to show why the high guard/decepticons are loyal to him so why have the biggest backstabber be there for that scene while soundwave who’s usually depicted as megatrons most loyal follower isn’t there not to mention having starscream on the rescue could have given more screen time to help set up his desire to want to rule

This is what I think TF: One TF:One series: It’ll show the Quintesson War which ends with the Decepticon’s declaring War for Cybertron. TF: One Sequel: The war begins, the city becomes a warzone, Optimus trying so hard to both protect the Autobots and try to get D back to his senses, but it’ll end in failure. The movie ends with the Energon being tainted, Cybertron becoming uninhabitable and B being heavily damaged by D. That’s when Optimus finally acknowledges that his friend is gone, Cybertron is dying and the Auto-bots need to end this war once and for all, “Megatron, must be stopped.” TF: One series season 2: Will continue with the war, but the main focus is Optimus going into the center of Cybertron to fix the Energon Crisis. Leading to the end of Energon, but Primus, and the Thirteen Primes, talk to Optimus before Primus shuts down. The second season ends with Optimus’s decision to leave Cybertron. TF: One 3: It’ll focus one the Auto-bots preparing to leave Cybertron with what little fuel they have left, while fending off against the Decepticons. Though the Decepticons seeing them leaving as them winning the war, Megatron will still not be satisfy with it and want every Auto-bot, especially Optimus, dead. These are, what I think and hope the direction they will go for, for TF: One going forward. But, mostly what I hope will happen.

You understand Optimus/Orion and Megatron/D-16 better than most online users do from what I have seen. “It’s more complex than that,” is the best way to put it, and you elaborated on that perfectly. It’s not so simple as “Orion was selfish” or “D-16 was justified,” as both are very much wrong and do not reflect the actual nuance depicted in the film.

The saddest thing here I think it has to be with the spanish dub. The Paramount team of the movie's spanish dub decided to give D-16 and B-127 star talents, people who are influencers invited to participate in the dub. The problem here is that D-16's actor did it awful and B-127's actor is being accused of being a pdf. And when people confronted Paramount they avoided and blocked messages related to that theme :(

My thoughts on what I think would be cool for a tfone trilogy: Tfone) is tfone. Big bad is sentinel. Tftwo) the story comes to earth and focuses on optimus and megatron, and the autobots and decepticons and how their interactions with the humans show who they each realy are. Megatron is the big bad, and is defeated in some fashion. Tfthree) this is my favorite idea I have. I want tfthree to follow a lot of the plot points of the 86 movie. I have 2 big reasons why I think it would be such a good fit. 1) unicron. Change unicron to be built by the quintessons, making the quintessons the big bad, tying off the trio of villains, sentinel, megatron and the quintessons. 2) galvatron. There is something hauntingly beautiful about the scene in the 86 film where megatron is made into galvatron. Someone so determined to make their own path through their own might and force, brought to their knees and made to just a pawn. I want to see what the megatron of tfone does when he is made into galvatron. I want to see what he does when he is once again made a pawn, see him struggle against it, and I want to see optimus react to what has become of his former friends and still try to help him. And lastly, hear me out... Galvatron sacrifices himself to defeat unicron in the end, the last shred of d16 rising up to save his friend mixed with megatons determination culminating in a heroic sacrifice to destroy unicron. One last smile from d16 to Orion pax. I dunno itd be pretty cool, this series could definitely do fine without humans but could definitely still work with humans. Whatever direction Josh Cooley would take the series in is one I belive in.

Just watched this the other day and absolutely loved it! It is absolutely one of the best Transformers movies I've ever watched. The only "complaint" I have was Chris Hemsworth as Optimus, he did a fine job but man it's hard to not hear/want to hear Peter Cullen the whole time 😂
@bryannkam
@bryannkam Ай бұрын
Regarding your "complaint", maybe it'll help if you think of it this way. (For the most part) Hemsworth isn't playing Optimus Prime, he's playing Orion Pax, who even in G1 was voiced by someone else and not Peter. But on a more serious note, while I don't want to think this way, Pete's not getting any younger. And even in Rise of the Beast, he didn't sound like he used to (even if you only go as far back as TF: Prime). So maybe it's time to let him rest and enjoy his golden years in peace with his friends, family, and loved ones.

I think you've interpreted it all really well, there are a lot of aspects to watch again and unpack I think. I know after my 10th time watching it I'm still finding this. Circumstances falling as they did and aligning with personalities the way they were, I do think a lot of where D-16 went was through having the least self concept of them all - a good bit of his identity ws firmly placed outside of himself an into blind trust of others. And yes the internal shame of feeling like the cuckold just let sheer rage and controlling wall replace it, with nothing else inbetween, no matter the cost in the end. Also I think it made it extra hard to try to bring him back from the brink because of the power of the new cog's influence or even the others like B and Elita the power was new and hard to learn to harness at first because it was so new to them, kindof like being Cog-drunk. Interestingly though I didn't really see that appear in Orion.

For some reason, I compare the ending conflict/fallout between Optimus and Megatron to the clashing of Michael and Lucifer. In fact, the rise of Orion to Prime by Primus and casting out the traitors out of Iacon is very on the nose of Revelations in the Bible. I like it when Transformers (directly or not) includes biblical aspects

I think if there are sequels, we could see optimus and megatron taking on the archiver and gladiator roles. I think with the wisdom of the primes with him and his natural curisoity about history, optimus could spend lots of times in the archives in the sequels studying the quintesson war trying to get ahead of their return or sometihng. And megatron could be a gladiator by holding fights like the one he had with starscream. Basically "the strength of one bot over another". A decepticon could challenge him as leader and they duke it out in whatever the pits of kaon are in this universe. Megatron either kills them or they yeild. I think that would be cool

What if in the hypothetical sequel, the Quintessons, during a newly begun war against them, start enslaving the Cybertronians who oppose them and force them to fight in gladiatorial arenas for their amusement (like in G1) among other things, and then Megatron goes there to fight in order to recruit more people on his side to grow the Decepticon faction?

Regarding the designs of the Thirteen Primes, Nexus Prime was the weakest, given his nature as the first Combiner. I'm not asking for much (especially considering the Primes' limited screen time), but they could've made him look more asymmetrical to at least allude to the fact that he's supposed to be made up of 5 separate components. I also feel the same way (to a lesser extent) towards Liege Maximo and Vector Prime, why are they the same generic white and gold as Prima, and not their signature green and splashes of maroon with blue (namely on the head) respectively? And on the subject of Airachnid, a part of me feels like her inclusion was somewhat superfluous, almost to the level of Karai's from the Bay-produced TMNT movie, (though not as bad). In that, nothing about her role and character within the film's narrative said it needed to be Airachnid specifically, it could have easily been someone like Nightbird or Strika if they wanted a henchwoman. Again, I'm not asking for much, but they could've included a few scenes and/or lines of dialogue that showed that she genuinely enjoyed and took very real twisted pleasure from doing Sentinel's dirty work as his main enforcer, to pay homage to the sadism she constantly exhibited during her debut appearance in TF:P. But, at the end of the day, these are just minor nitpicks and pet peeves of mine as a big Transformers fan. I still greatly enjoyed the movie overall.
