This is Gross Raden. A 10th century reconstructed Slavic Settlement near Mecklenburg in North East Germany. I think this is my favourite place to do Viking Reenactment.
It is also a place where I have forged some very strong friendships over the years. My family loves it. My daughters are welcomed and feel connected with many wonderfull people. Its a gift so see and experience that. And when we come home for weeks they tell each other: Danke Schön und Bitte Schön. This video is a testiment to Gross Raden and the friendships there.
In the heart of the vibrant, ancient forest, the air resonates with the symphony of nature's melodies. Amidst the rustling of leaves and the soothing sounds of the forest, a bridge formes between the cultures of Viking reenactors and the Slavic settlement. We embrace our shared love for history, exchanging stories and knowledge with open hearts. The boundaries of time dissolves, allowing us to walk in the footsteps of our ancestors, united in a common journey.
The forest serves as a sanctuary, embracing us with its beauty and serenity. Deep waters mirrors the tranquility of our souls, reflecting the bridge we have built between cultures. It as a place where time slowes down, allowing us to fully appreciate the present moment and the connections we have forged.
In this sacred space, where the forest thrives and nature whispers its ancient wisdom, we discover the true essence of our journey. We are not merely participants in a reenactment; we are guardians of a legacy. We build bridges between cultures, exchange stories and goods, and forge deep bonds of friendship, honoring the spirit of our ancestors and ensuring that the echoes of our history resound for generations to come
All video and music by me.

Wow, such a beautiful, evocative place! It looks absolutely wonderful, and your music really adds to the feeling. Like traveling back in time. I could almost smell the food cooking, and feel the grass beneath my feet! 😊 And if I may add, your filming and production just keeps getting better and better! Thank you for bringing us along to visit!

Year 888 village of halford has a problem. Year 2023 the villages still hold a gathering at 8pm on the 8th day of the 8th month. All are welcome to attend. It's a viking tradition that has hardly been noticed but is still going strong in modern Times. You will have never seen anything this random before. So come to halford on the 8/8/23 and see why the village throughs cheese at a rat the size of a car

Somebody put in extraordinary effort, materials and time into building the village and ring fort. Excellent! Thank you so much for making this video and presenting it to us. Skal

Indeed they did. Sadly the place is short on fundings to maintain the buildings and rely mostly on volunteer work as I understand it. Im happy you liked the video and I salute your appreciation of the place. Skål

Beautiful shots of a beautiful place! For me re-enactment has nothing to do with "my ancestors" but I agree to the sentiment of bringing people of different backgrounds and cultures together and forming deep bonds of friendship, while at the same time exploring history and bringing bits of it to life. That's why I love re-enactment :)

It makes me think deeply about our past and our ancestors and that we really owe them a lot for all that we are. I really loved the close ups of the food and great iron pots and pans,.....especially loved the one of the hands pinching out the fry bread so delicately. You and your family must love going there to reconnect. Thank you for sharing this, RAMUNI It looked like a truly wonderful experience. Beautifully filmed.

You Are so right. We all have much to learn from our heritage. The bread pinching is actually one of my favourite clips too:) its my friend Thorbjørn Who makes the most deliscious flatbread. Sadly i didnt get to taste this time because i was flying the drone just as the Feast started and they were very popular at the tables. Thank you for the comment Wyo and the kind words.
