A Vintage Bride in WW2 Paris 1945: 4K Restored w added sound

French woman, Germaine Girardot marries her sweetheart US Sergeant Arthur Mainzer. They met in 1944 after the liberation of Paris.
Her wedding dress is simply stunning. Perhaps a hand me down from her mother or sister? There would have been precious little choice in wartime. Paris style however never lost itself, even in wartime.
Filmed in a suburb of Paris in June 1945. Miss Girardot is wearing a beautiful wedding dress and veil. Many men and women in uniform as well as local French civilians ( friends and family of the bride.)
Typical 1940s fashion abound, beautiful dresses and vintage hairstyles.
After the wedding, local townspeople wave goodbye as the newly married couple drive off in a U.S. military vehicle. Later we see them on the balcony of their hotel.
Arthur, who served with the Ninth Air Force, was a combat cameraman who filmed the liberation of Paris and Buchenwald concentration camp. While in Paris he met the love of his life, Germaine. After the war, Arthur and Germaine moved to California where they lived together and raised two children, Christiane and Claudette.
In November 2016, the French government awarded Arthur the prestigious Chevalier de la Légiond’Honneur medal for his military contributions in France. He passed away in 2018. Germaine predeceased Arthur.
Arthur was there the previous summer in 1944 during the liberation of Paris.

Reminds me of pictures of my Grammy's wedding and my Nana's wedding. My Grammy had the dress. My Nana wore a suit dress set when she got married. Because both their husband's were going to war. Grammy's in WW2 and Nana's to Korean War. They looked beautiful and happy.

The wedding took place in the church St Maurice de la Boissière in Montreuil-sous-Bois. The church was brand new and quite pretty, it was "enhanced" in the 60s and became ugly :(
