Greenbriar Mall is a struggling B class mall along Atlanta's perimeter. While national chains depart the mall, small businesses find a new home in their place. The mall also features striking architecture & design of old.

One issue affecting Greenbriar and many other malls in the post-Covid era is a significant reduction in operating hours. According to the door sign this mall is not open after 7pm. That makes after-work shopping on weekdays impractical for many people.

Yes, it does make after work shopping for workers nearly impossible. I live in Quebec and I also noticed that stores have been cutting their hours, but surprisingly malls extended their hours.

Ahh the dreaded greenbriar. I worked armored trucks in 2017, that place was a scary spot. My partner got robbed for $130k and his guin stolen by a father and son team. Soon after i transfered to more buford gainesville ga areas.

This is the strongest inline tenant roster I have ever seen in an anchor less mall. It goes to show you that there is a strong demand for retail in this area despite what Burlington and Macy's management thought by leaving the mall. Pretty awesome mall.

Yes, Doomie this mall I can say is packed considering the fact that it doesn't have any anchors. I hope the small businesses in this mall continue to be successful. Nice video once again.😊

Nice video, Doomie! Indeed, despite being anchorless, this mall still has success, and its owners are taking great care of it (of course, they have to do something with the vacant anchors in the future). And the stores seem to be made by and for the community, which is a good choice.

I would definitely not classify this as a dead mall. It looks like it is very well-maintained and the in-line stores are full and it looks like there are lots of smaller perhaps locally owned businesses and chains that have gone in there and it’s wonderful that it is thriving. As for the anchors I’m sure that the mall management and ownership is trying to figure out what to do with them if they could just get one department store to go in and perhaps on the other end try to lure back a theater or some type of recreational facility.

@@beckyumphrey2626 yeah its sad, this area is just kinda unsafe, you have to lock your doors here and watch your back after dark. it is what it is living in a metro area.

Those two low ceiling beams along the corridor give it an oppressive feel.. and they hide all of the shop signage from view .. a strange design..

That is very true! Doomie was holding the camera at crotch height and we still couldn't see the signage on the other side. Horrible design.

i cant believe this place outlived shannon mall, growing up my parents took us to greenbriar and shannon mall, and arbor place. I loved shannon mall, the layout and the stores. I never liked greenbriar. it always seemed too small and cramped for me and i only really liked visiting the sneaker stores. they didnt have a gamestop or anything else for kids. I havent visited greenbriar in years now, but i still go to arbor place from time to time.

I absolutely loved Shannon Mall! Can't believe it closed....and that Greenbriar outlasted it. I remember my dad used to take us there on weekends growing up and we would eat and go to the little arcade that they had

I grew up west of.Atlanta 20 miles. I remember going there frequently in the 60s and early 70s. That area went downhill very fast and most folks would out of area. This video shows the problem. Cumberland Mall became the place in the late 70s and 80s. It is now going through the same.issues as the hood grows. Sad.

Atlanta is a city of 100% love or 100% don’t love it. Most people have a very strong opinion one way or the other. I have friends that are currently in the process of moving there and can’t find a place without being too far away from work or in a dangerous area. Not good.

I dare you to name me ONE LARGE CITY here in a America that hasn't been taking over by the leftist. And everyone one of them has the same issues. When are people going to wake up? Yeah, I like parts of Atlanta, but you won't catch me downtown at 2am. That's when the roaches come out!

Been in the area 65 years. Most folks are moving away from Atlanta. My home is being.listed soon. It is not a good area to live. Alot of racial driven issues it seems. So sad.

Another awesome vid Doomie! I have to say I was a little disappointed in you that you didn't film the hallway with Piccadilly in it, but you redeemed yourself halfway by including the pic near the end Lol. Greenbriar has held its own up until now as a decent urban mall. Even anchorless, it continues to remain viable in the niche that it's in, but you're right about if things change in Atlanta over the next decade, only the best will survive. If things do take a turn for the worst for the entire region, only Lenox, Phipps, Mall of Georgia, Perimeter, Avalon, and Cumberland are looking to be on very sturdy ground as far as the large regional players go. About 13 years ago, Atlanta seemed all the rage, but as of late it doesn't seem to be quite as hot as it used to be. Many young people I know outside of the metro area are intrigued with and moving to other states now as opposed to Atlanta.

Great video, you are correct the movie theather was in the basement. I just visit this mall a couple days ago. The mall looks good to me, just looks more like a flea market with the different shops. They use to have the atlanta precient on the other side of the mall so the crime was not high but if it is high now that is because of all the people coming from other states moving here and messing it up.sad to here Chick-fil-A is closing that is where i get my chicken fix whenever i was in the area.

Yes, the original movie theater was downstairs. My first escalator ride was going downstairs to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (after eating Chick-fil-a). I no longer eat in the area, but friends who do told me they stopped going to Greenbriar because of the large groups of teens who would hang out at the mall, often starting fights or attacking shoppers in the parking lot. Many neighborhoods in Atlanta are being refurbished, and hopefully the mall can survive until the area is safe and prosperous once again.

This is your prototype future mall in the 21st century USA and you can see it does just well enough to stay open and does not have to close like most malls whose population shifts have not full taken place. The mall has become homogenous culturally(play spot the white person with your friends and the game takes forever) so the shootings, crime, and aggressive attitudes of the customers dont scare people off because its now like their neighborhood but with amenities. With whitey gone, the mall needs to figure out what kind of stores can anchor it as places like Belk and Sears are dinosaurs of the blue collar working white man who has been made irrelevant finally and they need to replace it with maybe a giant walmart/target type place or Five Below along with the African Bazaar small businesses mixed with one or two "classy" places like a Chanel or some other overpriced place which is given incentives along with extra buy now pay later credit options to be in the mall by its progressive owners who will slowly figure out what stores keep the mostly broke urban crowd coming in and wasting what money they do have or maxing out all their credit cards. Keep it as clean as possible despite the rif raf and you have a fully functioning profitable mall that will thrive with the elimination of the oppressive white folks who all have finally been scared off. Atlanta will be the head of this forward thinking as it shows other cities like New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago how to take over things under created by the former majority while it pushes these culturally undesirables further into the countryside. This mall and the others like it in the right urban locations will only fail once there are no more white folks money to give out through socialist and welfare programs so these folks can shop at a well decorated mall such as this one. Once it happens these modern day South African cities in the USA will look like the modern day motherland that has lead the way in creating its own place. The nature of the malls will change as the fancy shops will be turned into outlets or even street vendors plying their goods in the hot downtown. Atlanta is the future and if you dont belong there, you better get out as soon as possible. Yet another great video. Back to watching Saved by the Bell.

I love how on videos like this, they always gloss over the "black" issue. It's in a black area. Black areas have more crime and less money. Simple.
