A Visit to Mabvuku ,Tafara & Gazebo East View in Harare Zimbabwe

Went to Mabvuku, Tafara & Gazebo East View in Harare Zimbabwe what any eye opener visit. Mabvuku is a high density suburb some 17 km east of Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe. It is classified as a suburb or township of Harare, with Harare City Council constituting local government. It encompasses in particular the townships that include Old Mabvuku and New Mabvuku, and more generally Old Tafara, and New Tafara (the latter two constituting Tafara properly speaking). wow thats great to see mabvuku again, grew up and raised in mabvuku drive , left ghetto for abroad 23yrs ago , ive seen so many developments in the area , ive seen even my home ,thank you, im sure when i visited im going to be new there from the residents, great work

I'm actually shocked at the deplorable state of these surbubs, the amount of litter by the road side is literally making my skin crawl😢. Why are we so comfortable nehuchapa nhai vanhu vatema. Poverty is no excuse, strangely if you go to Bulawayo high density areas, the places are neat and well looked after, the residents take pride in their environment. I'm sorry but this is just abysmal. A literal sh*thole!!

06:39 the shopping centre is called Kamunhu or as we used to call it paKamunhu. Before you get to paKamunhu you passed through Hunter or paHunter. Hunters was a council (City of Harare) bar. PaHunter is/was not a shopping centre, but panzvimbo pataikwirira makombi nemabhazi going either to the city or Mbare and most buses those days 2000s didn’t use in-roads, they stayed on Mabvuku Dr so people had to walk to a convenient place ye transport i.e paHunter. At 04:05 you mentioned you’d just passed an area called Chizhanje, NO. That’s not Chizhanje, uripa Mabvuku High School to your left and to your right it’s all old Mabvuku suburb, infact that whole area is old Mabvuku from that service station you passed through up to Mabvuku high school turning left na Johnny Tapedza Ave. Johnny Tapedza Ave iyo will take you to Manresa, another busy business area and crossing over that are you are at Circle Cement muna Acturas Rd, pa Fly Over apo. Yes the road that you passed there is called Chizhanje Dr but not the suburb. Chizhanje is way back- at 02:43 you turned left paShell apo, but if you had turned right that winding road which passes through council offices then Mabvuku Police station would’ve taken you to Chizhanje. Chizhanje suburb is closer to Mutare Rd than the place you mentioned it in the video. Actually it’s only a few minutes walk from Chizhanje to Mutare Rd or Mabvuku turnoff. This place has become a slum. I attended Donnybrook Primary School 96-97 and my grade 6 teacher told us the origins of the name Mabvuku. Exactly as you have stated in the video, swamps and water… Thank you mukoma, madzora ndangariro. Those days tiri paDonnybrook Primary government yaipa vana chikafu, we would have soup for lunch and sometimes peanuts I think.. We ere not buying exercise books, bhuku raiti rikapera waingoendesa kuna teacher, wopiwa rimwe. Then everything went sideways, the rest is history.

Iwe mabvuku named after chief bvuku who was swallowed by python snake and later the snake vomiting him still alive after 3 days. Leaved more 10 years .though died from falling rock mountain midnight was crushed in his bedroom hut.

The truth of the matter is that most of these residential places called/and STILL called "LOCATIONS" ....like Dzivarasekwa, Highfields..Mbare....which are like Mabvuku/Tafara "LOCATIONS" have gradually been suffering DECAY. Except for the few who have relatives in the "diaspora" who have tried to upgrade the ancient family homes.....most people of these homes are an "eyesore"...some STILL with pit - latrines. As for TAFARA in particular....it is the WORST with thick clouds of perpetual Air Pollution from the Cement Factory close by. The unemployment rate in these two LOCATIONS is also VERY HIGH..with chronic levels of prostitution and alcoholism among women.The prostitution is soooooohhhhh bad that the women actually line up Infront of beer-halls to be picked up 🤨🤨🤨🤨 "GKAY Zim"...if you are going to do videos if such places... "B. E. H. O. N. E. S. T" 🤨🤨🤨‼️‼️‼️‼️
