A Visit to West Empire Mall (SD)

(2023) West Empire Mall is the only regional mall for miles in any direction in Sioux Falls SD, and as the last mall standing in Sioux Falls, it thrives. It isn't perfect, but it maintains a bright future.

What a beautiful mall! I’m not a fan of carpet but I really like the architecture. I looked up the original fountain and found 1 picture. There are 2 Culver’s by me near Charleston, SC. SD is definitely a place I would like to visit. It looks so beautiful there. I don’t know about living there though. It gets very cold. Great video Doomie!

Interestingly, this mall opened September 24th, 1975. One week later, the local mall I grew up with which was the Oakdale Mall opened in Johnson City, New York on October 1, 1975.

I live in montgomery county md and I miss the lakforest mall a lot. Come to wheaton someday and we have the Westfield wheaton mall

The thumbnail (I guess taken from around 5:44?), with all those circles and upper windows, to me is reminiscent of old photos from Dixie Square Mall; I think they had a water feature in the ceiling that was circular which pour water straight down.

a really nice mall i was just thinking about that they could use a couple of fountains when you mentioned that they use to have a grand one. other than that i would like to see less carpet. its one thing to have small strips of carpet in the middle of the aisles but whole floor carpet in front of jc penneys & the formers sears needs to go. between this & fargo it shows the dakotas know how to do a mall

I too have heard excellent things about Sioux Falls and South Dakota in general. It's arguably the most pro-business state in the country.
