Paris Nord (or the Gare du Nord, "North Station", is one of the six large terminus stations of the SNCF mainline network for Paris, France. Located not far from Gare de l'Est in the 10th arrondissement, the Gare du Nord offers connections with several urban transportation lines, including Paris Métro, RER and Buses. By the number of travelers, at around 190 million per year, it is the busiest railway station in Europe and the busiest in the world outside Japan.
The Gare du Nord is the station for trains to Northern France and to international destinations in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. The station complex was designed by the French architect Jacques Hittorff and built between 1861 and 1864. It is situated in the 10th arrondissement of Paris.

I livd in this city for a while, next to this station almost. I would come here for a coffee and sit and watch people. Listen to the announcement chime and watch the letters change on the travel board. People off to London and various parts of Froggland...

The only time a friend was a "friend" was in 1964 and we were leaving Paris. Lloyd asked his father to take him to say "Goodbye". The last meal I ever had in Paris were croissants and loaves w/ butter in the morning. He lived in a house similar to a house that Pete Townsend & Roger Daltrey visited a mentor who showed many of the dynamics of music.

Ah Gare du Nord. Beautiful from a far, far from being beautiful. Amount of dodgy people and addicts in and outside is mind-blowing.

Very helpful and stress-relieving! I had no idea where to find the validation machine and it seems they are everywhere. Also SNCF official website states Paris du Nord is not one of the six stations that have the self serving kiosk so I went to Saint Lazare specifically today to pickup the ticket. But it seems that du Nord does have the self serving machines. Confusing website instruction.

There are hotels around this area and it is practical to stay there as to have fast access to Gare Du Nord. But need to be careful of your belongings when inside the station.

Hi Michael! I will be in Paris next month, first time. Still looking for more information. From CDG airport, I have to get on RER to Gare d Nord then take Metro line 5. My question is, do I have to exit Gare d Nord to get on the metro? Appreciate your answer

No…but it’s a confusing transfer…and a long walk underground…and you can easily get lost. Also, beware of valuables like cell phones. Roving little punks who work in packs stealing on tourist.

@@MichaelJirochVisualArtist Thank you for the answer . That is the mission piece of that I couldn't find. I don't have to exit out of the station to make the transfer. Thanks for the tip about those punks. Appreciate it
