Thank you for a fantastic video. I watched this before actually visiting earlier this year. Many of my ancestors lived in Horsted Keynes and so I have deep connections with the village and with St Giles Church. A number of my ancestors are buried in the churchyard too. I spent a wonderful time here with lovely, welcoming and helpful folk. Having since returned, watching your video again brings back lovely memories. A special place indeed.

A wonderful church, Ollie is an excellent guide. Interesting fact, the vicar at Horsted Keynes is also the chaplain of the Bluebell Railway!

My father was the village policeman during the 1950s and I was born in the police station in 1953. Very often I would see the Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan, at church and he would always read the lesson. I was Christened in St. Giles's.

That was great. There is a steam locomotive, a London Brighton and South Coast Railway E4 at Bluebell. named I think after Birchgrove, but it's only called that in the LBSC livery. I did enjoy that well done great video you 2 👍

The year issue is because Jan 1st did not mark new year in the old calendar. A year would continue until Lady Day 25th March, when the year number would change. So anyone born between 31st Dec and Lady Day would appear to be born a year before they did (to modern eyes) or died in this case. Historians always have to take this into consideration.

There's a grave in the churchyard of a young local couple who were killed on the nearby railway line (now Bluebell Railway) as they walked home in the dark after their wedding reception.........if memory serves me well.
